People living along Ao Ho canal reflect on water pollution in this canal.
According to local residents, the water source of Ao Ho canal is heavily polluted by wastewater from the daily activities of nearby households, wastewater directly discharged from Long Hoa market and untreated wastewater from some production and business establishments. Along Ao Ho canal, at Tan Huong culvert area on Pham Thai Buong street (Thanh Dien ward), the water is covered with white foam and has a strong foul smell.
According to a resident who does business along Ao Ho canal, the water in Ao Ho canal has a very unpleasant odor, affecting the lives and health of the people. Local residents have repeatedly petitioned the authorities to resolve the issue, but the water pollution in Ao Ho canal has not improved.
According to the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province (old), the Sevin canal (Go Ken canal) or also known as Ao Ho canal originates from the Ngoc Ha coffee shop area, Long Thanh Trung ward (now Hoa Thanh ward), more than 2.6km long. Due to the urban development process of Hoa Thanh town in the past, in addition to domestic wastewater from people, there was also wastewater from production and business activities such as hotels, restaurants, car wash shops, vermicelli factories, tofu skin, etc., so the canal water is increasingly polluted, while it has not been dredged regularly.
Voters have repeatedly reported this situation. The People's Committee of the former Tay Ninh province has also approved the investment policy to build a wastewater collection and treatment system for Hoa Thanh urban area with a capacity of 6,000m3 /day and night and assigned the Tay Ninh Province Investment and Construction Project Management Board (formerly) as the investor. Up to now, 100% of phase 1 has been completed (compensation for site clearance to build the factory and 2 pumping stations, construction of some collection pipelines), phase 2 has reached 15% (construction of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 6,000m3 /day and night, 2 pumping stations, collection pipeline system), expected to be completed in 2026.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to deploy the construction of the Hoa Thanh urban wastewater collection and treatment system according to the approved schedule. The People's Committees of the wards: Hoa Thanh, Long Hoa and Thanh Dien (after operating the 2-level local government) mobilized and requested households to connect wastewater to this collection system. Production and business establishments must invest in building a wastewater collection and treatment system according to regulations before discharging into the Hoa Thanh urban drainage system; regularly dredge and clear the flow of Ao Ho canal;.../.
