The Daily Mail reported that in a post on the X network on June 28, the Israeli Army announced that the IDF had killed Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa in a targeted airstrike on the Sabra neighborhood in Gaza on June 27. According to The New York Post , Al-Issa was with his wife and nephew at the time.
"Issa was responsible for the planning, training and deployment of Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023," the Israeli military said.

According to the IDF, as Chief of Staff of Hamas' military wing, Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa conducted air and naval attacks against the Israelis.
"The IDF will continue to search for and eliminate all those involved in the attack on October 7, 2023," the IDF said.

Mr Al-Issa is believed to have arrived in Gaza from Syria in 2005.
According to The Jerusalem Post , Al-Issa was also a co-founder of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades military academy, where he trained thousands of people for Hamas.
Earlier, in late May, Israel announced that its army had killed Mohammad Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza. Mohammad Sinwar became the leader of this force in the Gaza Strip after his brother Yahya Sinwar was killed in October 2024.
