Coach Kim Sang Sik eliminated 8 players from U22 Vietnam

On the morning of July 7, Coach Kim Sang Sik decided to reduce the list of the Vietnam U22 team to 28 players. This is the first adjustment of the Korean coach's force before the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship in Indonesia.

After a professional evaluation period through 10 days of training and two closed friendly matches with the U22 Taiwan team in Ba Ria - Vung Tau , coach Kim Sang Sik decided to say goodbye to the first 8 players.

Le Dinh Long Vu, Dinh Xuan Tien, Nguyen Quang Vinh (Song Lam Nghe An), Nguyen Dang Duong (The Cong - Viettel ), Nguyen Bao Long, Nguyen Le Phat (PVF), Le Van Thuan (Thanh Hoa) and Dinh Quang Kiet (Hoang Anh Gia Lai) were eliminated.

Yesterday afternoon (July 6), the group of 8 players above returned to their home clubs to prepare for the new season, while waiting for the opportunity to participate in the next training sessions, aiming for the 2026 AFC U23 Qualifiers in September as well as the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand at the end of the year.

According to the plan, the U22 Vietnam team will continue to practice in Ba Ria - Vung Tau until July 12. After that, the team will move to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the flight to Indonesia on the morning of July 14.

Before departure, coach Kim Sang Sik will announce the official list of 23 players, and the team will use the name U23 Vietnam team to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Tournament.

The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will take place from July 15 to 31 in Indonesia with the participation of 10 teams, divided into 3 groups. The teams will compete in a round-robin to calculate points, select the 3 group winners and 1 second-place team with the best results to enter the semi-finals.

The U22 Vietnam team is in Group B and will meet Laos (July 19) and Cambodia (July 22). In this tournament, the U22 Vietnam team has won the championship twice in a row in 2022 and 2023.
