Previously, the Hanoi People's Committee submitted a report to the City People's Council on supporting boarding meals for primary school students. According to the report, students studying ateducational institutions in mountainous areas and communes located on the Red River's sandbank will be supported with VND30,000/child/day. Primary school students studying at educational institutions in the remaining areas will be supported with VND20,000/child/day.
According to the city's calculations, the estimated budget to support boarding meals for 100% of primary school students in the 2025-2026 school year is more than 3,000 billion VND (of which, the public sector is 2,824 billion VND; the private sector is 239 billion VND). The total number of primary school students supported is about 768,000, including 707,720 students in the public sector and 60,270 students in the private sector.
Regarding this content, on July 8, the Office of the Hanoi People's Committee issued an official dispatch on preparing for organizing meals for students at schools in the area in the 2025-2026 school year.
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Departments of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environment, etc. to research and develop criteria for selecting suppliers of meals and food processing ingredients for school canteens.
At the same time, the Department of Health was assigned to propose the establishment of an Appraisal Council to evaluate the capacity of food service providers, advise and report to the City People's Committee before July 9.
Based on the agreement of the City People's Committee, the Department of Health will announce the criteria and organize the reception of proposals from units providing meals and food processing ingredients for school canteens in the 2025-2026 school year. The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to complete this work before July 18.
According to the submission of the Hanoi People's Committee, the development of support policies aims to implement the suggestions of General Secretary To Lam at the Conference on meeting voters before the ninth session of the 15th National Assembly on April 17, 2025 and continue to pay attention to the education career, school policies, ensure the quality of teaching and learning, and create the best learning conditions for children in the capital. |
