Regarding the details of the cases, Dien Bien Provincial Police said: At 11:30 p.m. on June 12, in Pakbeng District, Oudomxay Province, the authorities discovered and arrested 12 Lao nationals residing in Bokeo and Xaynhabuly provinces for illegally buying, selling and transporting drugs; seized about 2 tons of various drugs (including 1.87 tons of synthetic drugs = 18 million pills, equivalent to 3,117 cakes, 124 kg of ketamine) cleverly hidden in various locations in 12 cars, along with many related objects and documents.
At the police station, the subjects confessed that the seized drugs were hired by a group of subjects in Myanmar to transport from the Golden Triangle area to Vientiane (Laos) and wait for the opportunity to take them to other areas for consumption.
To transport the drugs, the group used multiple cars and social media during the journey to deal with the authorities. Depending on the type of drugs transported by each vehicle, the subjects were paid from 20 to 50 million Kip (Lao currency).
Then, on June 23, in Khom Khoa village, Luang Prabang city, Luang Prabang province, the Standing Working Group of Dien Bien Provincial Police coordinated with the Luang Prabang Provincial Police Department to coordinate with professional units of Lao Public Security and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to continue to destroy a drug trafficking and transportation ring; arrested 5 subjects for illegal drug trafficking and illegal possession of military weapons. The seized exhibits included 186 thousand synthetic drug pills, 3 military pistols, 21 bullets, 2 cars, 8 mobile phones.
