The series "Don't You Dream of Escaping Me" had a meeting and introduction on the afternoon of July 9 in Ho Chi Minh City. The film was directed by Nguyen Hoang Anh, and features the following cast: Thuy Ngan, Vo Canh, Le Phuong, Tuong Vi, Manh Lan, Lan Thy...
At the meeting, Le Phuong shared that Kimmie is the most unique and novel role in her career so far. She appeared with neat short hair, elegant vest, handsome and stylish with eyes that exuded coldness and determination.
"I often appear in feminine roles, as a hard-working, patient older sister with the image of ao ba ba, with many tears. In this return to the small screen, I play a person in the LGBTQ+ community (the community of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and bisexuals...). Kimmie has experienced many losses, so she is cold because she wants to create a shell to protect herself. To transform into this role, I cut my hair, lost weight, practiced martial arts, and devoted all my time to the film. I want to challenge myself, step out of my comfort zone, so I put a lot of heart into the role" - Le Phuong confided.
She shared that she thought and hesitated a lot at first about whether to accept the offer or not because if she did not do well, she would be disappointed and if she missed the opportunity, she would regret it. Finally, with the encouragement of her husband, singer and musician Trung Kien, she decided to challenge herself.
To prepare for the role, Le Phuong researched and learned from many sources and many people. "Every time I go out, I only look at men, from the way they walk, sit, talk and their sadness. I observe Kien regularly, even when he sleeps. When I'm on set, I also wear absolutely masculine clothes, almost never wear dresses. I treat the crew like a boy. Sitting and eating and talking is no longer feminine" - Le Phuong said.
She added that after the movie, she still walks in a masculine way, not completely returning to the way she did before.
In the film, Kimmie is the eldest daughter of the Chu family, who has suffered many injuries but still believes and loves with all her heart. Kimmie has a love story with the young girl Thuy Tien, played by Trinh Thao.
Actress Thuy Ngan plays Angel, a specialist in the transnational fraud investigation team. She has a love affair with police officer Duc Nhan, played by Vo Canh. In addition, the film also features the character Hai "coi" played by Tuong Vi, who has a one-sided love for Duc Nhan and is always ready to help him in all tasks.
"I have a different role, many incarnations, many psychologies but the main psychology is still a person who solves cases, investigates crimes. I think my character has 2/3 good and 1/3 evil because when incarnating, approaching deep into the criminal network to investigate, the boundary between the villain and the protagonist is very fragile. This is also the attractive factor, making me accept the role" - Thuy Ngan confided. She had to practice and prepare a lot for the role.
Actor Vo Canh said he put a lot of effort into the role of police officer Duc Nhan. He is proud to be able to play many colorful roles, bringing excitement to the audience.
