From July 1, Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country officially operate a two-level local government. After the arrangement, Ho Chi Minh City has 168 wards, communes and Con Dao special zone. Many restaurants and shops have updated the address of the new ward in Ho Chi Minh City on their signs, which is new to residents and diners.
New ward name, "brand new" sign
According to Thanh Nien , the chicken pho and bun thang restaurant on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street has updated its new address. From 492 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Ward 2 (District 3), it has changed to 490 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Ban Co Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Huong, the representative of this pho restaurant, said that the restaurant used to have two branches next to each other, at 490 and 492 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street respectively. A few days ago, she decided to merge the two establishments into a single branch at 490 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. On the occasion of changing the business model, Ms. Huong also had all the signs redone, and updated the ward name according to the new administrative address after the merger.

"On the occasion of merging the two restaurants into one, I changed the name of the signboard to match the address after the merger. This did not affect the business, on the contrary, some customers found it new and surprised, asking: "Is the restaurant now in Ban Co ward?", Ms. Huong said.
While some restaurants are starting to update their new addresses on their signs, most businesses still keep their addresses as they were before. Some restaurants and stores only list their house number and street name on their signs, without the ward name.
The new sign… has some flaws
On Ta Quang Buu Street in the new Binh Dong Ward in Ho Chi Minh City, a number of shops and services have or are installing "brand new" signs updating the ward name. Among them is a popular coffee shop located at number 928.
The owner said he had just put up the sign a few days ago. "A sponsor sponsored the sign for the shop. Coincidentally, it happened right at the time the ward name was changed. Previously, this address was Ward 5 (District 8). I sent the printing unit the correct address according to the new update, but there was still an error when they added the name of the neighborhood, the letters District 8," the owner said.

The restaurant added that the mistake in the sign did not affect the business too much. The owner is thinking about fixing this mistake.
The shop has been in business for many years and rarely changes its sign. However, for the owner, updating the shop's new address on the signboard not only ensures accuracy when Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country officially operates a 2-level local government from July 1, but also serves as an update.
Not far away, a dental clinic on Ta Quang Buu Street also started to put up a new sign with the updated address of the new Binh Dong ward. Many passersby also noticed this sign, as most of the surrounding shops and services still kept their old addresses.

Mr. Nguyen Tai, a technology driver who transports passengers from Ben Thanh ward to an apartment building in Binh Dong ward, said that recently when he went to work on the street, he saw that a few stores and services had updated their new addresses on their signs, most of which were newly opened services.
"As a technology driver, I'm already familiar with the old address, and the app hasn't changed to the new address yet. I'll probably need time to adapt. Now, when I'm driving passengers, talking about the ward name is also a good thing to chat with them about," he excitedly shared.
