Arriving at Lang Noong village, Bang Mac commune on a July day, we were impressed by the green - clean - beautiful scenery of the village roads. On both sides of the road are rows of neatly trimmed green string of pearl trees; at the end of the road are "green houses" used to classify waste at the source, creating a friendly and fresh village space.
The Women's Union of Bang Mac commune has 15 environmental self-management women's groups (established in 2019) in villages and hamlets, each group has 5-10 members, responsible for managing more than 12 km of residential roads. Once a month, the environmental self-management women's groups plant and care for flowers and trees, create miniature landscapes, contributing to keeping the landscape clean and beautiful in residential areas, and at the same time mobilizing people to participate by regularly cleaning their own family areas.
Ms. Vu Thi Huyen Trang, Vice President of the Women's Union, Head of the Women's Affairs Department, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province said: Responding to the emulation movement " Lang Son joins the whole country to build new rural areas", and at the same time implementing the campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, from 2010 to now, the Women's Union at all levels in the province have actively implemented the model of self-managed women's groups on residential roads. The Provincial Women's Union encourages grassroots associations to establish self-managed groups with the core being enthusiastic and prestigious members in the community. Every year, we orient grassroots associations to select and implement specific projects and tasks suitable to the conditions of each locality and unit, focusing on the content of "3 clean": clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley.
At the grassroots level, the self-managed women's groups have promoted the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies on the environment, and introduced good models and effective methods to women through branch meetings. Women in the self-managed groups participate in environmental protection, building green - clean - beautiful landscapes through practical activities such as: building flower roads; implementing "bright - green - clean - beautiful" roads; renovating village roads, alleys, in front of houses... For roads that are not favorable for planting flowers, the self-managed groups flexibly replace them with shade trees or fruit trees. In addition, women also organize the collection and classification of waste at the source to raise funds to support members in difficult circumstances. In particular, women's union members also actively implement the family model of "5 no, 3 clean", according to which, women's union members not only participate in maintaining the general environment but also keep their houses clean, promoting their role in building a prosperous and happy family.
Since 2010, the province has established more than 100 self-managed women's groups. The self-managed groups have implemented 140 "Green - Clean - Beautiful Village" models, managing more than 300 road sections with over 183,800 m of flower roads. The self-managed women's groups have also repaired and dredged intra-field canals, cleared village roads and alleys. Many outstanding members have also donated land to build roads (a total of 306,580 m2 of land) to help expand and upgrade the rural transportation system.
Mr. Hoang Phi Dung, a resident of Zone 8, Dinh Lap Commune, shared: Since the establishment of the women's self-governing group, I feel that the air in the residential area is fresher. Witnessing the enthusiasm and responsibility of the women, I am also proactive and conscious of maintaining public hygiene.
It can be seen that, from the enthusiasm and responsibility of women's union members, the awareness of environmental hygiene in the community is increasingly enhanced, contributing practically to the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas in the province.
