On June 30, according to information from the Ministry of Health , in the face of the risk of measles still lurking and possibly breaking out in some localities, the Ministry of Health issued a document to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities; Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur on continuing to implement measures to prevent measles.
In recent times, the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities have actively and effectively implemented measles prevention and control work. Up to now, measles has been gradually controlled in provinces and cities, the number of cases has shown a clear downward trend nationwide since the beginning of April 2025; however, the measles situation still has the potential to cause an outbreak in some localities.
To proactively strengthen the work of preventing and controlling measles, the Ministry of Health requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct a number of contents such as: Organizing the assessment of the implementation of the measles vaccination campaign in 2024 and 2025, drawing lessons in implementation, subject management, and inter-sectoral coordination.
Provinces continue to review and not miss any subjects, especially in areas at risk of outbreaks and low vaccination rates. The spirit of "going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every subject" is to mobilize subjects to participate in expanded vaccination, catch-up vaccination, and catch-up vaccination to achieve a coverage rate of over 95% at the commune and ward level and not leave "vaccination gaps" for children of the age group in the Expanded Immunization Program.
The Ministry of Health also requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct the Department of Health to organize assessments, strengthen surveillance, early detection of suspected measles cases in the community and medical examination and treatment facilities, thoroughly handle newly emerging outbreaks; Closely coordinate with the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute to regularly assess risks, propose appropriate and effective epidemic prevention and control solutions.
Medical units have done a good job of triaging patients for examination, admission, and treatment, strengthening infection control, preventing and combating infections in medical examination and treatment facilities, minimizing deaths./.
