Suspect arrested for vandalizing more than 40 graves in Hanoi

On February 23, responding to VTC News reporters, the leader of Tay Mo Ward Police (Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi ) said that the police force had arrested the suspect who vandalized more than 40 graves at the cemetery in the area.

"The suspect arrested yesterday is a teenager born in 2008, showing signs of mild mental illness, living in Dai Mo ward," the leader of Tay Mo ward police added.

Tay Mo Ward Police are coordinating with Nam Tu Liem District Police to continue the investigation.

On February 19, the People's Committee of Tay Mo Ward received a report that more than 10 graves at the cemetery had been vandalized. Afterwards, the ward authorities and police arrived at the scene to record the incident. However, by the evening of the same day, a series of graves continued to be vandalized.

According to statistics, there are about 40 graves in the cemetery with broken incense bowls and flower vases.

One of the households whose graves were vandalized by bad guys - Mr. Do Van Chi (63 years old, in Tay Mo ward) said that the cemetery has existed for a long time, this is the resting place of many deceased people but has never been vandalized by bad guys.

According to Mr. Chi, after the incident, his family often came here to check to avoid the grave being vandalized a second time.

Mr. Tran Dinh Do (in Tay Mo ward) said that on the morning of February 22, he went to the cemetery to check and discovered that the graves of his relatives had been smashed, including incense bowls and flower vases. Mr. Do said that his family had no grudge against anyone, so he did not suspect anyone of vandalizing the graves at the cemetery.
