In May 2015, Ha Le Aquaculture Cooperative was established with 17 members. This was the first step in linking to change the fragmented and small-scale production mindset to form a concentrated aquaculture area with a large area of 30 hectares as it is today.
Mr. Hoang Van Hung, a member of the cooperative, said: If in the past each person did things on their own, now we have joined together to develop. Members support and share capital, experience, and consumption markets, these are prerequisite advantages in production.
The cooperative has applied the model in modern agricultural production, specifically linking "4 houses" including: Farmers - State - Scientists - Enterprises. Thanks to the establishment of the cooperative, members have had access to preferential loans, and have been trained in science and techniques of fish farming according to standards. VietGAP . In addition, members actively link together in production and consumption.
In order to reduce production costs, cooperative members sign contracts to jointly purchase food and supplies from the same supplier, thereby reducing costs by 10-15% compared to individual purchases.
In the consumption of commercial fish, the Cooperative actively sells through many different channels such as: selling directly to traders, signing contracts with stores, supermarkets and supplying to collective kitchens. Each year, the Cooperative supplies the market with about 200 tons of various types of fish.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, Director of Ha Le Aquaculture Cooperative, said: If we only stopped at raising and selling commercial fish, the members of the Cooperative would have earned a few hundred million VND in profit each year on average. However, we all have the aspiration and desire to become billionaire farmers, and the members of the Cooperative have proactively sought new directions to better meet the needs of the market. After many years of having to buy fish fry domestically and internationally, more than 3 years ago, the Cooperative was able to produce fish fry themselves and this work gradually became the main development direction of the Cooperative.
Currently, Ha Le Aquaculture Cooperative specializes in producing and raising many aquatic species such as: monosex tilapia, grass carp, hybrid carp, bighead carp, red tilapia, etc. In addition to the area for raising various types of fish in Hong Quang commune, the Cooperative also cooperates with dozens of households in the province, with a total area of 20 hectares. Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, Director of the Cooperative, said that each month the Cooperative supplies the market with 10 million tilapia fry and 5 million grass carp fry.
To have a stable consumption market, the cooperative has signed contracts to purchase products with many businesses inside and outside the province, thereby reducing dependence on traders and avoiding "price pressure". Most recently, the cooperative has cooperated with HV Seafood Company to build a closed chain in tilapia farming. Accordingly, the company will provide food, technology and commit to purchasing output, while the cooperative will ensure the farming process.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan, representative of HV Aquaculture Company, members of Ha Le Aquaculture Cooperative have a lot of experience in production, and the infrastructure ensures good conditions for large-scale farming. Particularly, the cooperative's tilapia fry always ensure quality, are disease-free, and meet the strict requirements of foreign importers. Currently, the company
In the past 3 years, the cooperative's revenue has reached 20 billion VND/year. In reality, the establishment of value chain linkages by Ha Le Aquaculture Cooperative has brought about many practical results, contributing to increasing income for members, ensuring stable output, reducing risks and enhancing product position in the market.
