In order to create a useful playground, encourage the preservation and widespread use of Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community in Australia, especially children, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney organized the "I am super Vietnamese" contest.

Contestants are children aged 6-15, who are Australian citizens or living in this Oceania country with permanent resident (PR) status and studying in Australia from primary school (not necessarily from grade 1).

The contest content focuses on the topics of Vietnam's homeland, Vietnam's history, family affection, friendship, resource and environment protection, climate change... with contest types such as telling a story, reading a poem, presenting on an issue, performing a play or singing a song in Vietnamese.

Entries must be in the form of videos with images and sound, and can be made by a single child or a group of children. Each child can participate in the competition in multiple categories (storytelling, poetry reading, presentation or singing), but can only participate in one entry for each category.

After just over a month of launching (from June 1, 2023), the Organizing Committee of the contest has received more than 40 registrations. There are 31 valid entries posted on the fanpage "Em Sieu Tieng Viet". According to the judges of the contest, the contestants are all very adorable with their dancing, singing, poetry reading, storytelling performances..., "each person is perfect in their own way", every child is talented, sings well, tells inspiring stories, acts passionately and reads poems with emotion...

Dr. Nguyen The Duong - a child language expert at the University of Queensland and also a member of the jury - said that all the entries in the contest were very creative, elaborate, very cute and extremely adorable. The most important thing was the children's feelings and love for the Vietnamese language and their homeland, Vietnam.

He expressed his hope that this spirit will continue to be promoted so that generations of Vietnamese children born and raised in Australia will have a stronger connection with their homeland and the Vietnamese language will always be honored everywhere in the world .

Agreeing with Dr. Nguyen The Duong, Ms. Tran Hong Van - an expert in mother tongue research and child language development, also a member of the jury - assessed that this was an extremely meaningful competition. The children participating in the competition had equal Vietnamese language ability, confidently demonstrating that ability in many types of activities such as singing, storytelling, reading poetry, giving speeches, etc.

After half a month of diligently judging with impartiality, the jury selected the best entries with 1 special prize, 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 6 consolation prizes, 1 collective first prize, 1 collective second prize, 1 collective third prize, 2 collective consolation prizes and the most favorite entry voted by the community.

Specifically, the special prize was awarded to Hailey Pham Viet Ha, the first individual prize was awarded to Dora Minh Mai, the first collective prize was awarded to the Melbourne Young Fellow Countrymen Association, the prize with the most audience votes was awarded to Hannah Nguyen... All contestants, even if they have not won a prize, will still receive a certificate and a gift from the Organizing Committee of the "Super Vietnamese" contest.
