On the afternoon of July 2, U22 Vietnam had a resounding 5-0 victory over U22 Taiwan in the first friendly match in preparation for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

Overseas Vietnamese player Viktor Le was one of five players who scored for U22 Vietnam, along with Phi Hoang, Van Truong, Quoc Viet and Van Thuan. Coach Kim Sang-sik used this match to test the squad and check the players' form before the important tournament taking place in Indonesia.

However, in this match, striker Nguyen Dinh Bac was the only one who did not enter the field for a single minute. According to Tri Thuc - Znews , the striker from CAHN joined the U22 Vietnam team on July 1, but he had to practice according to a separate training plan. According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will play the second friendly match with U22 Taiwan on July 4. This is the final preparation step before the whole team moves to Indonesia to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

This year's tournament takes place from July 15 to 31, with 10 teams participating and divided into 3 groups. U22 Vietnam is in Group B with Laos and Cambodia. The teams will compete in a round robin, selecting the three group winners and the best second-placed team to enter the semi-finals.

U22 Vietnam is the defending champion, having won the championship twice in a row in 2022 and 2023. According to the match schedule, U22 Vietnam will meet Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22.
