Vietnam gives Laos 20 VinFast electric cars

President To Lam announced the gift from the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Party, State and people of Laos, which is 20 VinFast electric cars.

On July 11, at a meeting with Lao General Secretary andPresident Thongloun Sisoulith in Vientiane (Laos), President To Lam announced the gift of 20 VinFast electric cars from the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Lao Party, State and people. These cars will contribute to supporting Laos in successfully organizing important activities during the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024.

Immediately after the talks, President To Lam performed a symbolic handover ceremony of the keys to 20 VinFast electric cars to the General Secretary and President of Laos. The head of state of Vietnam then got into the electric car with the Lao leader. President To Lam sat in the driver's seat and drove General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith for a distance. It is known that the electric car that Vietnam gave Laos on this occasion is the VinFast VF9. This is the largest electric car manufactured by VinFast of Vietnam. Within the framework of the State visit to Laos, President To Lam and the delegation of high-ranking officials of Vietnam also carried out many meaningful activities such as witnessing the exchange of cooperation documents including: Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos on the construction and implementation of a population management system and citizen identification in Laos; Extradition Agreement between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Supreme People's Procuracy of Laos; Cooperation plan for 2024 between the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice of Laos; Agreement to enhance Vietnam-Laos air transport connectivity between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos and Vietjet and a number of agreements between businesses of the two countries. At the same time, attend the ceremony to activate the project "Implementation of the project to build a population management system and citizen identification in the Lao People's Democratic Republic".
