On the afternoon of July 14, the V.League 2025/26 draw ceremony took place in Hanoi . Notably, Becamex Binh Duong Club and Ho Chi Minh City Club were approved by VFF and VPF to change their names before the new season.
Accordingly, the team from the land of Thu will compete under the name Becamex TP.HCM from the 2025/26 season. Before the draw, the leaders of Binh Duong Club sent a letter requesting to change the name and received the approval of the organizing committee.
In the official list announced at the draw ceremony, the name Becamex TP.HCM replaced the old brand that was associated with many V.League titles.
This is a step within the comprehensive restructuring plan of strategy, personnel and image positioning that Binh Duong football team is implementing. The name change promises to help the team expand its fan base and improve its ability to attract sponsorship in the new period.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City Club is also allowed to change its name to Ho Chi Minh City Police, marking the return of a brand that has a long history with Saigon football. Thus, from the 2025/26 season, Ho Chi Minh City football will have two representatives participating in the V.League, including Ho Chi Minh City Police and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City. This is considered a positive signal for the revival of football in the city named after Uncle Ho after many quiet seasons.
