At the regular press conference this afternoon, the press asked the Foreign Ministry spokesperson to comment, stating Vietnam's viewpoint and reaction to the information that Chinese ships were conducting illegal survey activities in our country's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

In response to this question, spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that foreign research and survey activities in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf - established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) - without Vietnam's permission violate Vietnam's sovereignty and jurisdiction.

Vietnamese authorities always closely follow developments in the East Sea and implement measures in accordance with international and Vietnamese law. These actions aim to ensure Vietnam's legitimate rights and interests.
