Over 77% of the area has water for winter-spring crop cultivation.

According to the Quick Report of the Department of Irrigation, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , by 3:00 p.m. on January 28 - the last day of water intake for the first phase, the Northern Midlands and Delta region had taken water for the 2023-2024 Winter-Spring crop on 381,373 hectares, reaching 77.4% (up 4.1% compared to January 27).

Specifically: Ha Nam reached 92% of the area needing water, Nam Dinh 88%, Thai Binh 88%, Ninh Binh 86%, Phu Tho 85%, Hung Yen 82%, Hai Phong 79%, Vinh Phuc 78%, Hai Duong 75%, Bac Ninh 73%, Hanoi 45%.

As of 3:00 p.m. on January 28, the average daily water level at Hanoi Hydrological Station reached 1.45 m, the highest at 12:00 p.m. reached 1.72 m.

The Department of Irrigation requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of provinces and cities to direct management units to maximize the operation of water extraction vehicles to bring water to the fields, strive to basically complete the water extraction plan in the first phase and at the same time store it in the canal system, low-lying areas, ponds and lakes.

The Department also requested Vietnam Electricity Group to direct relevant units to create conditions to improve the water intake efficiency of irrigation works; provide a guaranteed power source so that localities have enough electricity to operate the works during the water intake period.
