The training course was sponsored by Olympic Solidarity, organized by the Cambodian Volleyball Federation and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and taught by expert Dusan Jarotta - an International Volleyball Federation certified coach. The participants were shared experiences by expert Dusan Jarotta through technical and theoretical sessions.

The course involved a total of 45 local coaches, including 13 female coaches, from 33 clubs and provincialeducation departments. The aim is to improve the national volleyball level ahead of the fourth Asian Youth Games, which will take place in Phnom Penh in four years.

According to the Khmer Times, expert Dusan Jarotta expressed his deep impression of the students' performance throughout the course: "I was very impressed by the attention, team spirit and learning spirit. As coaches, we must have a clear vision. This helps us understand what we need to do and what we want to achieve." He also emphasized the importance of leadership both on and off the field. "We have a very important task to guide, lead and inspire. But it is equally important to enjoy the path we are on."

For her part, Secretary General of the Cambodian Volleyball Federation Aing Serey Piseth described the course as a unique opportunity for the development of the sport in the country. "This is a rare opportunity for local coaches to learn directly from an expert from the International Volleyball Federation. Good coaches will create better players. When coaches understand international techniques and rules, they can train athletes more effectively."

With a view to the 2029 Asian Youth Games, the training plan complements a player selection campaign launched by the national federation last March to select the best young talent. The idea of a three-year training camp is part of a youth development strategy. The Cambodian Volleyball Federation is looking for players with high dedication and some physical advantages, especially height, which is considered key in the sport.

“We have strict recruitment standards, focusing on children under 14 years old, at least 1.85 meters tall. In volleyball, height is very important, so this is given special attention,” Secretary General Aing Serey Piseth told Khmer Times.

The selected players will train in Phnom Penh, where they will receive intensive training, comprehensive education and specialised nutrition. “In addition to balancing sport and study, the athletes will be guaranteed top-notch nutrition to maximise their sporting potential,” added Secretary General Aing Serey Piseth. Between 22 and 24 young athletes are expected to be selected, although only the best will make it into the final squad after a rigorous selection process.

With initiatives like these, Cambodia is fully committed to preparing to shine as the host country in 2029, in a continental competition that will see athletes from 45 countries competing in a planned programme of 15 sports.
