Ho Chi Minh City promotes the development of river tourism products to connect products with the two old localities of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau .
According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism , in June, Ho Chi Minh City recorded more than 732,000 international visitors, an increase of nearly 63% over the same period in 2024; domestic visitors reached about 3.2 million, an increase of 3.7%. Total tourism revenue in the month is estimated at nearly 20,000 billion VND, an increase of more than 20% over June last year.
In the first 6 months of the year, the city welcomed more than 3.8 million international visitors (up 44%) and 18.3 million domestic visitors (up 7%), bringing the total number of tourists to more than 22 million. The total revenue of the industry is estimated at nearly 118,000 billion VND, up 27% over the same period and reaching 45% of the yearly plan.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in addition to improving service quality, the local accommodation system continues to grow strongly with 3,146 establishments, including 134 hotels with 1 to 5 star standards. The tourism industry is accelerating the development of new products and diversifying experiences to retain and increase tourist spending.
Notably, in the last months of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will put into operation a number of new tourism products such as: tours to explore inner-city rivers combined with riverside culinary experiences; tourist routes connecting heritage sites - museums by electric bus; tourism packages combining weekend resorts in Can Gio district associated with exploring mangrove forests and the newly opened expressway...
In addition, night products such as the expanded Bui Vien walking street, night bike tours of Ho Chi Minh City and seasonal cultural and artistic festivals will also be held periodically. The city's tourism industry will also develop new inter-regional tourism products, connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau according to the model of "one journey, many destinations" to exploit the advantages of resorts, islands, community ecology combined with industrial tourism and urban experiences.
Night tourism products are expanded to provinces after the merger to attract visitors to Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the city is becoming a “regional tourism super city” thanks to the merger of administrative boundaries and strong investment in connecting infrastructure. Expanding space and renewing products will not only help Ho Chi Minh City attract more visitors, but also make tourists stay longer, return more often and spend more in the future.
