Ready to welcome cadres from Bac Kan |
Change and adapt quickly |
Ms. Dang Hoang Linh, an employee of the Department of Construction, is packing her belongings to move to her work unit at the administrative center of Thai Nguyen province. |
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, an employee of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, is currently staying with an acquaintance because she has not found a suitable place to rent. However, her family has proactively transferred their two children's school to the inner city to prepare for a long-term stable life at the new workplace. With an income of nearly 20 million VND/month for both husband and wife, Ms. Hoa calculates her spending frugally and hopes to soon have a policy to support rent and transportation to reduce the burden of living in the city.
Ms. Hoa suggested: Raising 2 children to study in the city is quite expensive, while the salary of civil servants is still low. Therefore, we hope that the province's policy of supporting housing rent and travel expenses will be implemented soon to help reduce the burden on cadres, civil servants and public employees who have just moved to work in the province.
Similarly, to reduce the cost of renting a house, Mr. Lang Duy Chinh, working at the Thai Nguyen Department of Construction, flexibly chose to rent a house with his colleagues. A house of 6 million VND/month is divided equally, both saving costs and creating a close-knit common living space. "Each person lives in a separate room but cooks together to save money. After work, everyone goes to the market, cooks, and cleans the house. Living away from home, away from wife and children like that also helps to reconnect with homesickness and gives more motivation to work" - Mr. Chinh shared.
Following the direction of the province, before the merger, the Department of Construction reviewed all working offices (including commune-level offices after the arrangement), and public service facilities that could be converted into public housing. At the same time, it reviewed additional accommodation facilities and dormitories in universities and colleges in the province or proposed specific support for housing rent for officials, civil servants and public employees of Bac Kan (formerly) coming to work in the province.

According to the reporter's investigation, up to now, basically, cadres, civil servants and public employees from Bac Kan (old) have settled down to work in pre-prepared areas or proactively rented accommodation outside with prices ranging from 1.5-5 million VND/room, house depending on demand. Although demand has increased, the number of accommodation facilities, dormitories and rental rooms in the central wards and neighboring communes is still large.
For example, at the Provincial Farmers' Association headquarters in Bac Thanh hamlet, Quyet Thang ward, 28 rooms (2 people/room) are quite new, fully equipped with beds, air conditioners, hot and cold water. The first floor of the building has a communal kitchen that meets the needs of immediate use. The campus is spacious, has good security, and has a car park, so it is quite convenient for tenants. Every day, the security guards still sweep, clean, ensure security and order, and are ready to welcome cadres, civil servants, and public employees who want to rent.

Along with housing, transportation is also a concern for many officials and civil servants. For many officials who do not have their own vehicles, transportation between their residence and workplace is supported by high-quality shuttle buses. In some special cases, such as Ms. Nguyen Bich Phuong, an official of Thai Nguyen Newspaper, Radio and Television, still maintains daily travel to Bac Kan to take care of her two young children who are living with their grandmother. Every day, she takes the Ha Lan express bus back to her hometown in the late afternoon and returns to Thai Nguyen early the next morning. Despite the hardship, she still maintains a sense of responsibility for her work, and at the same time hopes for the province's travel expense support policy in the coming time.
According to statistics compiled by the Department of Construction from 21 reporting units, up to this point, the total number of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers from Bac Kan province (old) working at the administrative center of Thai Nguyen province after the merger is 638 people. All have been arranged workplaces and facilities, the majority have found accommodation outside. |
As the country enters the era of development, localities must also move forward by revolutionizing the organizational apparatus. In that general context, cadres who have transferred to work far from home to the provincial administrative center are making great efforts together with the cadres, civil servants and public employees in general to enter the period of innovation and development. Stabilizing the lives of cadres after the merger is not only financial support, but also a way to add motivation to contribute to those who join hands to build their homeland in the new land.
Thai Nguyen province has had, is having and will continue to have flexible and appropriate policies to promptly support officials in terms of accommodation, living and travel, thereby creating a foundation for the process of building a streamlined, effective administrative apparatus, suitable for the requirements of innovation.
