Delighted to welcome the Ambassador, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac wished Mr. Thomas Gass a successful term in Vietnam. Assessing the good development of the relationship between the two countries in all fields, the Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendship and cooperation with Switzerland, along with increasing the exchange of delegations, high-level contacts and contacts at all levels and in all fields, on the Party channel, continuing to strengthen the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Swiss political parties; including sharing experiences in preventing and combating corruption, negativity, judicial reform, etc.

Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac received Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass.

Ambassador Thomas Gass thanked the Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac for taking the time to meet him. The Ambassador said that although he had just started working in Vietnam, he had visited 12 Swiss enterprises that are investing and doing business and was impressed by the contributions of these enterprises in Vietnam. Emphasizing that the results of bilateral trade and investment cooperation in recent times have not been commensurate with the potential of the relationship between the two countries, the Ambassador said that he was proud to work in Vietnam and was ready to contribute to promoting the cooperation between the two countries in various fields to continue to develop further.

Ambassador Thomas Gass shared about the organization of administrative agencies, as well as the basic risk control mechanism, inspection, judicial, and anti-corruption work in Switzerland today; at the same time, he said that the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity is currently a global issue, so relevant agencies of the two countries can exchange and share experiences in this field.

At the meeting, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac and Ambassador Thomas Gass discussed issues related to promoting and cooperating to strengthen the relationship between the two countries in many fields, especially in the context of the post-COVID-19 pandemic. The Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission hopes to accelerate the negotiation process to soon sign the Vietnam - European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA - including 4 countries Iceland, Liechestein, Norway and Switzerland), contributing to promoting and expanding trade cooperation between Vietnam and the EFTA bloc in general as well as between Vietnam and Switzerland in particular.
