The recall was initiated due to the discovery of a manufacturing defect in battery cells produced by a battery cell manufacturer. Between November and December 2023, the welding capacity of a newly added winding machine in the battery cell manufacturing equipment fluctuated, resulting in poor welding of the negative electrode tab.

This defect increases the risk of internal short circuits and the battery cells are susceptible to overheating, especially after aging. In addition, the battery cell manufacturer has inadequately managed the input materials and ineffectively controlled the key materials such as the positive electrode and separator of the battery cells, which reduces the life and reliability of the battery cells.

The company’s investigations, launched in May 2025 after receiving customer returns and damage reports, revealed a defect in the negative tab of the coil core ring. Further analysis revealed that since August 2023, the physical and chemical properties of the material had deteriorated, with iron (Fe) impurities in the positive electrode material (P26) exceeding the permitted level, further increasing the risk of overheating and reducing the reliability of the battery cells.

The Company has classified these affected products as Group A defective products and goods as prescribed in Article 33 of the Law on Consumer Protection. Therefore, the Company proactively implemented a recall and remediation program to ensure the highest standards of quality, reliability and safety for the affected products.

To date, the company has not received any reports of injuries related to this issue in Vietnam. This recall is a precautionary measure to prevent potential damage and continue to ensure consumer safety.
