Enhance life skills for students during the summer

Summer vacation is not only a time to rest after a school year but also an opportunity for students to practice and equip themselves with life skills. To meet the needs of summer playgrounds for students, Le Van Tam Primary School, Minh Xuan Ward has focused on organizing a Summer Club with open training programs, teaching life skills, experiential programs, and extracurricular activities.

Teacher Nguyen Viet Hai, Principal of Le Van Tam Primary School, said: “From the beginning of June, the school has planned specific activities during the summer club for students. This summer, the club attracted more than 500 students in the school to register to participate. The summer club is organized as a boarding school, divided into classes and has a homeroom teacher. Depending on each topic, the school organizes for students to participate in different programs by day, by subject and integrates interdisciplinary, experiential activities, fun science practice, communication skills, and applied computer skills for students. The school also creates conditions for students to freely indulge in their passion for gifted subjects such as football, fine arts, and musical instruments; organizes swimming lessons to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to prevent drowning accidents.”

Activities are designed to help students practice life skills.

The activities organized in the club are aimed at equipping students with knowledge, helping them grasp basic knowledge; at the same time, organizing experiential topics through subjects and integrating interdisciplinary subjects, enhancing STEMeducation and experiential activities. Under the guidance and careful preparation of teachers, each activity is a new experience that not only brings useful knowledge but also helps students gain more skills in cooperation and teamwork.

Tran Ngoc Bao Anh, class 5H1 said: “Participating in the summer club at school, my friends and I are free to be creative, have fun and consolidate knowledge through each practical activity. We also learn many useful life skills such as swimming skills, communication skills, music lessons, painting and group activities…”

Teacher Duong Thi Hoan, a teacher at Le Van Tam Primary School, shared: “We have built summer club activities in an open way. We usually organize games and group activities. Our goal is to help students have interesting experiences and discoveries and be able to apply the interdisciplinary knowledge they have learned to create practical products.”

Children learn life skills and participate in many activities at the 2025 Summer Club.

The summer club has been maintained by Le Van Tam Primary School for 9 years now. Ms. Thach Thi Hai Yen, a parent of a student, said: “I feel very secure when my child participates in the summer club at school. Every day when he comes home, he tells me about the interesting things he has learned and participated in. I see that my child is more active, has more discipline and develops soft skills, knows how to help his parents and is more confident in communication.”

The organization of the Summer Club has demonstrated the school's initiative and creativity in innovating educational methods. Thereby, contributing to creating a positive learning environment, helping students improve their life skills and develop their talents in the summer of 2025.
