As a young journalist, reporter Thanh Tung ( Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station) has reaped many "sweet fruits", such as the Encouragement Prize for the print newspaper category of the Long An Provincial Press Award in 2023; the Third Prize and the Encouragement Prize for the print newspaper category of the Long An Provincial Press Award in 2024; the Second Prize for the First Nguyen An Ninh Press Award in 2025.
1. Not flashy, not noisy, reporter Bui Thanh Tung (born in 1996, reporter of the Special Topics Department, Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station) chose to leave his mark on the profession with integrity, love for the job and a sense of responsibility. Graduated from the Literature major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University, he "fell in love" with journalism during his internship at Long An Newspaper (now Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station).
Not choosing any famous journalist as an idol, Mr. Tung admires those who write "eat on the street, sleep at the people's house", blending into the people's lives to write simple but profound articles. As a reporter in charge of agriculture , he often goes to the countryside, lives with farmers, records from their sighs, smiles and even sweat. Mr. Tung said: "Once I went to work in Chau Thanh district. In the middle of a blazing hot noon, I met a couple cutting down hundreds of dragon fruit pillars, the husband smiled sadly: "Keeping them will also die, giving them up is painful... but I can't stand it anymore, uncle!". That statement urged me to write and the series of articles Finding a way to develop sustainable dragon fruit trees was born, not only reflecting the current situation but also speaking up for farmers, that they cannot be alone forever in a risky market...".
“Working as a journalist in the digital age, I understand that time pressure is very high, but I choose to go slowly but surely. I once told my colleagues: "I may not be the first to report, but I must definitely be the one to report correctly." "For me, reputation lies in the accuracy and value of the information provided, not the speed of update," Mr. Tung continued.
Many times, Mr. Tung's articles have become a "bridge" between the people and the authorities. One article helped a student in difficult circumstances get support to enroll in school, another article brought the voices of farmers to the management level. Mr. Tung has received many provincial journalism awards, but for him, the greatest reward is when readers feel understood and shared.
2. After more than 3 years working at Long An Radio and Television Station (now Long An Radio and Television Newspaper), reporter Dang Van Tai (born in 1999, from Dong Thap province, reporter of the News Department) has left his mark with emotional works, especially a series of topics about culture and people of the West.
After more than 3 years of working, reporter Van Tai (Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station) won second prize in the television category of the Long An Provincial Press Award 2024.
Mr. Tai came to journalism by fate. While he was a student majoring in Literature at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University, he had the opportunity to intern at a local press agency. It was there that a brother who was in the profession inspired Mr. Tai through each press product. “That brother did not teach me theory but inspired me with his own serious and responsible way of working. From then on, I began to love journalism without realizing it,” Mr. Tai shared.
For Mr. Tai, one cannot enter journalism by “calculating benefits” but must start with a great enough love. “When you love your job, you just want to contribute, because you see the meaning in each work you create. As a reporter, I am always ready for any situation, but that does not mean improvisation. Before each topic, I always spend time researching, contacting characters, clearly planning each step, ensuring the quality and meticulousness of each press product,” said Mr. Tai.
And it was during those challenging field trips that young reporter Van Tai realized more deeply the value and meaning of the journalism profession he pursued. “Perhaps the most memorable memory for me was the business trip to DK1 and Con Dao platforms. During 15 days drifting in the open sea, facing the storms with my colleagues, we still persevered in our work to send back touching journalistic works about the island soldiers. That was the first time I fully felt what it meant to “write with the heart”. Amidst so many hardships, I understood more deeply why I chose journalism,” said Mr. Tai.
According to Mr. Tai, journalism in the digital age requires not only passion but also the courage to debate, the ability to verify and build trust with the public. As a young reporter, he constantly improves his technological skills, from filming, writing, editing to taking photos. Although working in a fast-paced news cycle, he still maintains a principle: Speed can be fast, but accuracy must never be off.
Reporter Thanh Tung and Reporter Van Tai are still quietly contributing to the journey of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism. These "young writers" are constantly improving and developing themselves. Although the road ahead is full of challenges, with a heart that loves their profession, they are determined to continue to spread kindness./.
