Attractive Talkshow "Let's support and cheer for the U23 Vietnam team"

The talk show "Let's support and cheer for the U23 Vietnam team" organized by the Newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong has the participation of football expert Doan Minh Xuong and coach, former Vietnam national team player Phung Thanh Phuong. Mr. Doan Minh Xuong was born in 1959, is a player and then coach at clubs such as Dong Thap, Tien Giang , U20 Vietnam, Binh Duong, Military Zone 7, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Ninh Binh, Ho Chi Minh City....

He won the championship with Dong Thap football team in 1989 and 1996, and won the First Division championship with Military Region 7 in 2007.

Not only is he a "veteran" coach and expert in the field of football with more than 30 years of experience, he is also a football lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports and Physical Education, and is also the "father" of the School Football program currently being applied by the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (HFF).

He is currently participating in the community football development work of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation and has achieved many successes and become a prominent name in the Vietnamese football world.

Meanwhile, Coach Phung Thanh Phuong is one of the "monuments" of Ho Chi Minh City football. Growing up from the Ho Chi Minh City youth football training "furnace", the former midfielder born in 1978 became a mainstay in the Ho Chi Minh City Police team, winning the National Cup in 1998 and 2001.

At the 1998 Tiger Cup (the predecessor of the AFF Cup and ASEAN Cup), Phung Thanh Phuong was part of the "golden generation" of the Vietnamese team, alongside famous players Hong Son, Huynh Duc, Do Khai, Cong Minh, Huu Thang,... winning the runner-up title of the tournament.

His playing career ended prematurely in 2004 due to a serious knee injury. He then attended the Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports and began his coaching career. He worked as an assistant at Navibank Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City Club, Saigon FC and U23 Vietnam.

In 2021, he became the head coach of Saigon FC. By the end of 2023, he was appointed head coach of Ho Chi Minh City Club and helped the team successfully stay in the V-League for two consecutive seasons, even reaching the top 4 in the 2023-2024 season.

Under his leadership, the "red battleship" became a cohesive team, played scientifically and made certain progress. However, due to not having a Pro Coaching certificate according to AFC regulations, he cannot continue to lead Ho Chi Minh City Club in V-League from the 2025-2026 season. Currently, he is planning to take the Pro Coaching course.
