Tam Da village has 132 households, mainly Tay and Nung ethnic people. The village is about 4 km from the center of Tam Giang commune, and people's lives are still difficult. For many years, traffic roads have always been a "bottleneck" hindering economic development and the daily life of local people.
Mr. Hoang Van Giap, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Tam Da Village, said that realizing the concerns of the people and to change the face of the countryside, the village has planned and calculated the cost of building roads in order to have a plan to mobilize resources from the people. However, due to the economic difficulties of the people, some people think that "the State will take care of the roads", so the initial mobilization encountered many difficulties.
People of Tam Da village (Tam Giang commune) together cleared and cleaned the road to proceed with concreting. |
Faced with that reality, the Party cell assigned village cadres and prestigious people to go from house to house to mobilize. During the day, people went to work in the fields, and in the evening, cadres would go to each house to talk and persuade. Small, cozy meetings of the village were held continuously. At the same time, cadres and Party members in the village also actively contributed exemplary in order to create trust among the people.
In order to be open and transparent, the village also established groups elected by the people to directly mobilize and collect contributions, while the village chief is only responsible for general management. People will be divided into groups to support and supervise the construction process.
That approach has created great consensus among the people. In 2024, the villagers built a road in hamlets 11A and 11B with a length of 560 m, costing 500 million VND, of which the State supported 100 million VND, the rest was contributed by the people.
In early 2025, people continued to contribute to concretize the road section leading to Hamlet 10, 620 m long, 3 m wide, with a total cost of more than 500 million VND. Many people also dismantled fences and trees to facilitate road construction. After the road was completed, people proactively dredged the ditches and planted flowers on both sides, creating a clean, beautiful and spacious landscape.
Road sections are being constructed with the contributions of Tam Da village people (Tam Giang commune). |
More importantly, during the road construction campaign, many poor households voluntarily took the lead in contributing, thereby spreading the message to other households to actively participate. In the case of Mr. Lieu Van Quan's family (Hamlet 10), although they are poor, they did not hesitate to contribute and actively participate in checking, supervising, and supporting the construction team during the road construction process.
“My family’s economy is still facing many difficulties, and the contribution of 9 million VND/household is not small. However, for the common good, my family has to save up to contribute. The new road has been completed by the people, and everyone is proud. Also from this movement, the villagers are more united, know how to share and are more united,” Mr. Quan shared.
According to Mr. Hoang Van Giap, the village currently has more than 30% of households classified as poor or near-poor. Although life is still difficult, the people still actively respond and agree, so 70% of the roads in the village have been concreted. Currently, there is still about 1 km of dirt road that has not been concreted. The village is continuing to collect people's opinions and setting a goal of completing a section each year, promoting the internal strength of the people to complete this road.
Although Tam Da people today are not rich in material things, they have a “common asset” which is solid and spacious roads built from the spirit of consensus. Those roads are spreading the belief and aspiration to change the homeland of the people here.
