Son La innovates to improve the quality of education in the new period

Entering the era of Industry 4.0, the Education and Training Department of Son La province is making efforts to transform and gradually modernize teaching activities to meet the requirements of improving the quality of comprehensiveeducation . Innovation is not only reflected in pedagogical methods, but also in thinking, management organization, use of technology and creating a friendly and effective learning environment.

Currently, the province has 609 educational institutions with more than 379,800 students. The school network is expanded and distributed reasonably, ensuring to meet the learning needs of students in all regions.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, Deputy Director of the Son La Department of Education and Training, the province has 23,546 teachers and managers, including 1 Associate Professor, 4 PhDs, 430 Masters, and nearly 17,000 people with university and college degrees. "We focus on training and fostering to improve management and teaching capacity, meeting the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive educational innovation," said Mr. Quang.

Facilities are invested synchronously

In the 2024-2025 school year, Son La province will enroll over 52,000 new students in the first grade. The educational infrastructure system continues to be invested in a synchronous and modern direction.

The rate of solid classrooms is 73%, semi-solid is more than 24%. Auxiliary facilities such as libraries, laboratories, subject classrooms, boarding houses, cafeterias, clean water, toilets, etc. are invested in, effectively serving the learning needs of students, especially at boarding schools and semi-boarding schools in difficult areas.

The results of the 2024 high school graduation exam showed positive changes: 11,544/11,561 candidates passed the graduation exam, reaching a rate of 99.85% (an increase of 0.16% compared to 2023). The average score was 6.4 points, an increase of 0.29 points. In particular, the graduation rate of the regular education system reached 99.91%, ranking 3rd nationwide.

Stabilizing education after restructuring the apparatus

From July 1, 2025, after the reorganization of the two-level government apparatus, schools in Son La will be managed according to new administrative boundaries. Mr. Nguyen Chi Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, affirmed: "The Department has proactively guided schools to make administrative management adjustments, ensuring uninterrupted teaching and learning activities and student rights."

Along with organizational stability, the education sector continues to implement the roadmap to improve training standards for teachers at all levels, especially in implementing the 2018 general education program. Training linked to practical needs helps ensure the structure, quality and quantity of the teaching staff.

Building a comprehensive educational environment

The Education and Training Department of Son La province continues to focus on educating students in ethics, lifestyle, life skills and careers, while promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and style in schools.

The Department of Education and Training has directed the strengthening of school violence prevention and control; provided guidance on situation handling skills for managers and teachers to ensure a healthy and safe learning environment. In addition, the mobilization of social resources and prioritizing investment in disadvantaged areas have also been promoted, contributing to narrowing the gap in education quality between regions.
