Quickly resolve land clearance problems for Nam Cao extended road project

The Nam Cao extended road (Hoa Khanh ward) is a key infrastructure project, playing a role in connecting traffic in the northwest region, serving socio-economic development. However, after many years of construction, the project has been behind schedule due to problems in site clearance, affecting the lives and travel of people.

People are tired of slow progress.

According to residents, the weather in Da Nang has been erratic in recent days, with sunny mornings and heavy rain in the afternoons. In that context, Nam Cao Street, the extension that passes through residential groups 61, 62, 63, 64, 65... in Hoa Khanh Ward, has become a hot spot for dust and mud, causing many difficulties in traveling.

More dangerously, when it rains, the road is slippery and dangerous for people, especially the elderly, children and students.

Ms. Pham Thi Nhien (group 61) was upset: “This road has been under construction for nearly two years but it is still not finished. When it is sunny, it is dusty, when it rains, it is muddy, motorbikes slide up and down. People live a miserable life because of the unfinished project, every day when traveling, it is like overcoming obstacles.”

Not only affecting daily life, the slow construction also poses a potential risk to traffic safety. Vehicles from trucks, motorbikes, and cars must jostle each other on the dirt road. "We recommend that the local government and the construction unit soon find a solution, at least they should spread asphalt or pour stones to prevent people from slipping," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thang, a resident living near the road.

According to the reporter's observations, at the construction site, many sections have not yet been paved with sidewalks, and workers are installing water pipes. The unsafe and inconvenient situation has made many residents worried that if the progress continues to be "sluggish" as it is now, the coming rainy season will cause more difficulties for people traveling on Nam Cao Street.

What do the authorities say?

Speaking to reporters, a representative of the People's Committee of Hoa Khanh Ward said that they had received feedback from residents regarding the slow construction progress on the Nam Cao extended road. In the coming time, the People's Committee of the Ward will work with the construction unit and the Project Management Board to find solutions to speed up the progress.

Meanwhile, the representative of the construction unit explained that the project is currently facing two main problems: slow site handover and high construction material prices. Many households have yet to hand over their sites, causing the progress of the entire project to be delayed.

In addition, the continuous increase in construction material prices in recent times has also affected the procurement, transportation and allocation of human resources. To ensure traffic safety, the construction unit is trying to complete the asphalt paving of the main road for areas where water pipes are installed and sidewalk tiles are laid by the end of July 2025.

According to the representative of the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Traffic and Agricultural Works in the City, up to now, site clearance is still a factor that "blocks" the construction progress. Specifically: Route 1 (section from Khanh Son Kindergarten to Battalion 743, Brigade 683) is still stuck with 2 documents.

A representative of the Project Management Board affirmed: "We really need more drastic intervention from the authorities to soon hand over the site to the contractor, synchronously construct the items, ensure the completion of the project on schedule, before the rainy season."
