According to Tin Tuc Viet Nam newspaper, in early July 2025, at Huu Nghi international border gate, the atmosphere of entry and exit was bustling from 7am to 8pm every day. Although the passenger traffic was high, there was no jostling or pushing; people lined up in the right lane, in order, following the instructions of the Border Guard force.

According to the Huu Nghi International Border Guard Station, on average, thousands of passengers complete exit and entry procedures every day. Statistics from the beginning of 2025 to present, the unit has processed procedures for more than 1.24 million people, an increase of 16% over the same period last year. Of which, exit and entry by passport reached over 430,000 people (up 5.8%), while exit and entry by travel document reached over 810,000 people (up 22.5%). Passengers are mainly Chinese and Vietnamese citizens for the purpose of visiting relatives, traveling , and working.

In particular, from April 2025, the "two-day, one-night" tourist route between Lang Son (Vietnam) and Pingxiang (China) was officially opened with a travel permit, organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son province in coordination with the People's Government of Pingxiang town. This tourist route has attracted a large number of tourists to visit, shop and explore the culture of the border area.

Major Trinh Van Bac, Deputy Head of the Border Guard Station at Huu Nghi International Border Gate, said that the control process is carried out synchronously, in a closed manner, and in accordance with regulations. Accordingly, when passengers from the inland go to the border, at barrier number 2, the Border Guard force will initially check the documents, means of transport and guide them to the area for exit and entry procedures. After completing the necessary procedures, passengers move to barrier number 1 (area of marker 1116) to exit to China; here the Border Guard force will re-check the documents and this is the final control process, ensuring there are no errors... "We always proactively arrange reasonable forces at each location, regulate the appropriate flow of passengers to avoid congestion, and ensure security and order in the border gate area", said Major Trinh Van Bac.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the formation of a “Vietnam-China border tourism belt” is gradually becoming a reality. This not only requires cooperation at the local level but also requires flexible open-door policies from the two governments, including: Facilitating immigration procedures, coordinating border control inspections; developing railways, intermodal tourist buses and especially bilateral tourism programs with the participation of businesses from both countries.

Not only the number of tourists, programs like the Magnificent Border Journey are also an opportunity to deepen understanding, trust and cooperation between the two nations. When tourism is placed in the context of cultural, historical, economic and political trust, it is not only a service industry but also a sustainable human bridge between two neighboring countries.

With a close historical foundation, a closely connected transportation system, and rich border tourism potential, the Vietnam - China tourism corridor is gradually being opened up.
