Jota struggles to step into the light
Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, also known by his familiar name Diogo Jota, was born on December 4, 1996 in Massarelos, Porto (Portugal). Diogo Jota's family did not have a football tradition, but from a young age, this boy had a passion for the round ball. At the age of 9, Diogo Jota joined the football academy of Gondomar SC - a small team in the Porto district. Here, the player with a small stature made the coaches admire his skillful technique and excellent ability to choose a position and finish.Diogo Jota's professional football career began in 2013 when he left Gondomar SC to join Paços. Here, Diogo Jota continued to affirm his talent and after only one season was promoted to the first team. It did not take long, on October 19, 2014, Diogo Jota was given the opportunity to start, played brilliantly and helped Pacos win 4-0 against Atlético de Reguengos in the Taça de Portugal. After that, Diogo Jota was continuously used. During the period from 2014 to 2016, Diogo Jota played a total of 41 times for Pacos and scored 14 goals - an impressive achievement for a young Portuguese player.

Diogo Jota made his Primeira Liga debut on 20 February 2015, replacing Diogo Rosado in the final minutes of a 2–2 home draw against Vitória de Guimarães. Three months later, he scored twice in Pacos' 3–2 home win over Académica de Coimbra. Notably, with his brace, Diogo Jota also became the youngest player to score for Pacos in the Primeira Liga.
Seeing the talent of the Portuguese player, many European giants expressed their desire to have Diogo Jota's service. After many negotiations, in 2016, Atletico Madrid Club successfully convinced Pacos, bringing Diogo Jota to Spain with a 5-year contract. However, the player born in 1996 did not play successfully and was sent to Porto on a one-year loan. In August 2022, Diogo Jota signed a long-term contract with Liverpool. Unfortunately, the striker born in 1996 was injured and often absent from the "Red Brigade" matches. According to statistics from Sofascore , in 5 years wearing Liverpool's shirt, Diogo Jota played 182 matches and scored 65 goals and 26 assists.
