According to K Hospital, Circular 26/2025 creates a stricter legal corridor, contributing to standardizing the prescription process, enhancing the responsibility of medical practitioners and protecting the rights of patients; improving the quality of treatment, helping patients access accurate treatment regimens, minimizing drug abuse and misuse.
The new regulation also helps ensure that patients are fully informed about drugs and treatment; making it more convenient for patients to come for medical examination and treatment, and receive medication for treatment, especially for outpatient cancer patients living in remote provinces.
Regarding some new points of Circular 26/2025, the Ministry of Health said that it has stipulated 252 diseases and groups of diseases that can be prescribed for outpatients for more than 30 days, starting from July 1, 2025 (previously, outpatients could only be prescribed for a maximum of 30 days). Circular 26/2025 also adds a number of mandatory information fields in the prescription such as: recording information about the patient's personal identification number, citizen identification number or passport number; Vietnamese citizens providing personal identification numbers do not need to declare information about gender, date of birth, permanent address. The prescriber must clearly state the amount of medicine used each time and the number of times used per day, the number of days of use of the medicine in the prescription for the patient.
In the case of a patient visiting multiple specialists in one visit, the hospital will decide who will prescribe the medicine, ensuring that the patient only has one prescription, ensuring safety (no duplication, no drug interactions) and the effectiveness and reasonableness of the prescription. The prescription must be consistent with the patient's diagnosis and condition...
