The 2025 high school graduation exam, the first year 12th graders study according to new textbooks, but is it too hasty to measure the requirements of the 2018 general education program? The life cycle of the general education program is about 10 to 12 years, the requirements need to be achieved according to the roadmap, suitable for the situation of the teaching staff, facilities, teaching equipment, school management... However, the reality is far from the desired.
Teachers do not really understand the 2018 General Education Program, have not invested their efforts in lesson preparation, teaching, testing, and perhaps some teachers are teaching extra classes with "tangled" motives. As a result, despite the new program, students still follow the old ways, taking notes on lessons, sample exercises, memorizing and returning assignments. If students continue to study "the old way, then when they encounter new exam questions, they will inevitably get stuck!
The teaching method that teachers currently guide students is still mainly based on guesswork, experience, passing exams, high scores... This contradicts the requirements of the new program and new textbooks.

Teachers' inertia towards the 2006 General Education Program is still strong, so teachers prepare lessons, teach classes, and test subjectively mixing the old (2006) and new (2018) programs. More worryingly, the school board, teachers, students, and parents are all "lulled" by scores of 9 and 10; the school year's summary shows good and excellent students.
Therefore, when the exam requires understanding and application but the teaching and learning remain the same, the students crying after the high school graduation exam is not a small fault of many teachers, school administrators and parents.
After the exam, there are important things that need to be done for the current education sector such as: assessing the difficulty of math and English exams; results of implementing fundamental and comprehensive reforms of general education; impact of high school graduation exams on each group of students; orientation of this exam for the following years.
This requires seriousness, accuracy, honesty, taking the interests of learners as priority, taking the goal of developing qualities and abilities as the core, taking winning people's hearts as motivation, and taking impartiality as the measure of teachers' ethics.
From the 2025 high school graduation exam, we hope for positive changes so that education can keep up with the whole country on the journey of innovation.
