The family of Ms. Tran Thi Giang, An Thi commune is one of the households with many creative ways to save electricity. With a family of 4 people, 3 generations living together, the family has 3 bedrooms, Ms. Giang said, her family always adheres to the principle of "turning off in and out, turning on in and out", limiting the simultaneous turning on of electrical equipment, especially during peak hours. At noon, the whole family often gathers to use the air conditioner in two rooms, maintaining a stable temperature of 26-27°C, and at the same time combining with a standing fan to increase the feeling of coolness. This method helps to save costs significantly while still ensuring living and resting for the whole family. Thanks to the application of scientific measures, her family's summer electricity bill is always maintained at 500,000 - 600,000 VND/month.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy's family, who provides photo printing services in Pho Hien Ward, also said that they have implemented many effective electricity-saving measures. In addition to turning off electrical equipment when not in use, Mr. Quy takes advantage of natural light, welcomes the wind, and plants more trees to cool the living space. In particular, he prioritizes using energy-saving devices such as LED lights and Inverter air conditioners. Thanks to that, although the price of household electricity has increased by 4.8% since May 10, 2025, his family's electricity bill remains stable at 1.3 to 1.5 million VND/month.
Not only households, many businesses in the area have also proactively invested in the long term to reduce electricity consumption. A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Van Khai, owner of Phu Son Mart Supermarket, Long Hung Commune. With a business area of nearly 5,000m², the lighting, air conditioning and food preservation systems consume a large amount of electricity each month. Realizing the high demand for electricity in the summer, 2 years ago, Mr. Khai boldly invested more than 800 million VND to install a 50kVA solar power system on the supermarket roof.
The effectiveness was quickly recognized: on average, the supermarket saved 15-30 million VND per month on electricity bills, compared to the previous cost of nearly 70 million VND per month. Mr. Khai shared: Solar power not only helps the supermarket reduce operating costs, but is also an environmentally friendly choice, in the right direction for green and sustainable development.
According to Hung Yen Electricity Company, the summer of 2025 is forecasted to continue to see many prolonged heat waves, with the demand for electricity in the area increasing sharply, especially during peak hours from 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 10pm. The electricity industry has developed plans for summer electricity supply, while strengthening communication and closely coordinating with localities to raise people's awareness of safe and economical electricity use.
Hung Yen Electricity Company recommends that people should use electrical appliances with energy-saving labels, turn off appliances when not needed, and not use many high-capacity appliances at the same time during peak hours. Air conditioners should be set at 26°C or higher and combined with fans to increase cooling efficiency. In addition, taking advantage of natural light and natural ventilation is a simple but effective solution to reduce household electricity costs.
Changing the awareness of each household and business and proactively using electricity reasonably will not only help reduce electricity bills but also contribute to reducing pressure on the national power system. This is also a practical action towards the goal of developing sustainable energy and protecting the environment in the context of increasingly complex climate change.
