Before Nathan Lee, many artists had to pay the price for making offensive statements, insulting colleagues, and getting involved in personal scandals.
Nathan Lee increasingly unstable
On September 22, several artists posted condolences about Kasim Hoang Vu. However, this is false information. Only when Kasim Hoang Vu spoke up to reassure public opinion did the audience stop being confused.
In August, many pages posted that the male singer died of a serious illness, forcing the male singer to speak up and clarify that it was fake news. Since Kassim Hoang Vu shared that he has arthritis of the jaw and his health is getting worse. Artists in the entertainment industry support and encourage the male singer to get well soon. While relatives and audiences are encouraging Kasim Hoang Vu, Nathan Lee made a statement that caused public confusion.
On September 14, Nathan Lee shared a post about Kasim Hoang Vu being hospitalized, writing a sarcastic status. A few days later, Nathan Lee continued to make hidden insinuations about the male singer. The series of posts received a lot of anger from the audience, many people asked what was happening to Nathan Lee?

After the post about Kasim Hoang Vu, the audience was outraged by Nathan Lee's many unusual posts and statements, criticizing both domestic and international figures on his personal page.
What made many people more angry was that Nathan Lee mentioned his biological mother and father with harsh words, even insulting the people who gave birth to him, even though his grandparents had forgiven and overlooked the male singer many times.
Previously, Nathan Lee continuously openly argued, mentioning many colleagues' names if he felt dissatisfied. On social networks, the audience was fed up with Nathan Lee's arrogance.
"Everyone has become a victim of Nathan Lee, from Cao Thai Son, Ngoc Trinh, Xuan Lan, Huong Tram... We agree that we don't like each other, but only Nathan Lee uses derogatory words, calls others "thang" or "con", "I used to love Nathan Lee's voice and French, but now I don't recognize him anymore", "It's okay to curse artists who are in conflict with me, sometimes even attack them". Thich Minh Tue, I don't understand what's happening to him anymore," the audience commented.
Ms. TH, Nathan Lee's mother, shared that she was the one who helped Nathan Lee return, but the situation did not improve.
"I helped Nathan Lee fight a fierce battle. I thought I helped Nathan Lee overcome the obstacles, but he still had the same old problems. I never expected that my son would now not hesitate to use harsh words towards his parents," she shared.
On social media, many viewers believe that Nathan Lee is increasingly unstable and unqualified as an artist. This is a rare time when the online community sees an artist calling both his parents by name and using inappropriate and immoral words.
In response to the male singer's arrogant statements on social networks, many newspapers published articles criticizing him for going beyond the limits of an artist. Regarding this issue, Vanguard Contacted Nathan Lee's family representative, his relatives said the male singer needs to face the public and society for his deviant statements.
"Not only outsiders, Nathan Lee also used the harshest words to talk about his family members. The family spoke up with the purpose of making Nathan Lee realize that he was wrong and must take full responsibility before public opinion, even face the law," said the family representative.
In addition, relatives said they did not interfere in Nathan Lee's private life. "Nathan Lee is over 40 years old and must take full responsibility before the law and face media criticism for his false statements," the relatives' representative added.
Audience boycotts artists who make offensive statements
Recently, audiences have continuously criticized artists for making inappropriate statements and distasteful behavior on social networks. Among them, Phuong Le was administratively fined according to the decision of the Inspectorate of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City for livestreaming offensive statements and altering the lyrics of the national anthem.
Meanwhile, Nam Em was fined twice, with the amount of 37.5 million VND and 10 million VND, respectively, for providing information causing confusion among the people and providing information insulting famous people and national heroes, and making loud and offensive statements that upset public opinion.
In early September, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the management agency would strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the performing arts. Any offensive behavior that violates the artist's qualifications will have a bitter end.
In addition to being administratively punished, artists who make offensive statements lose the public’s favor. That means that groups of celebrities who lack standards lose the opportunity to represent brands and appear in major programs. Nam Em, Phuong Le and now Nathan Lee have to pay the price for their statements that belittle the audience.

Despite being administratively punished, Vietnamese audiences are not as harsh as Chinese public opinion. There are many cases where people are banned from broadcasting and closed again just because of inappropriate statements.
The most controversial case of an artist being banned is: Zhang Zhehan. One day after his inappropriate statement, the male artist was banned from speaking and had his contract canceled by 27 brands. Sharing the same fate as Zhang Zhehan, actor Zhao Lixin had his role canceled, 13 completed episodes were cut, and his appearances on entertainment programs were limited.
In addition to not accepting artists making sensitive statements, Chinese public opinion is so strict that any celebrity who has a scandal about their personal life is banned. Artists involved in illegal substances and scandalous personal lives such as Kris Wu, director Wang Quan An... all paid a heavy price for losing their status as artists.
In Korea, artists are under heavy pressure from the audience. There are many cases where they have to give up their careers because of their impure personal lives. Recently, Korea's youngest actor Yoo Ah In had money thrown at him in court, claiming that he was not qualified to be an artist because of using illegal drugs. Similarly, actor Jung Suk Woo, Kang Sung Wook... banned forever for drug use and unclean personal life.
In addition, insulting artists and colleagues in Korea is unacceptable. In April 2023, MC Yun Nan Hee was permanently banned from broadcasting for insulting a deceased comedian. Actress Han Ji Sun was also banned indefinitely and closed again for making noise, threatening, beating people and resisting law enforcement officers.
