The German striker has criticised the huge transfer fees paid by clubs in recent years, citing the case of Florian Wirtz, who left Leverkusen for Liverpool for a fee of up to 150 million euros.
"150 million euros is an absurd figure. It is just a figure in an agreement between clubs. Who can imagine the real value of 150 million euros? You cannot have Neymar, but with that money you can plant a lot of trees. How can you evaluate the true value of 150 million euros? You cannot buy the best things with that amount, but you can do a lot of good things," said Muller.
Wirtz is currently the most expensive transfer of the summer transfer window, but not the most expensive in history. Neymar still holds the record when he forced PSG to spend 222 million euros to bring him from Barcelona in 2017.
Muller also praised Wirtz's talent: "I think he can play well in every position. Florian is not only a good player, his will is also very strong."
With huge bonuses from winning the Premier League and advancing deep into the Champions League, Liverpool spent a lot of money this summer.
