CAHN will participate in the 2025/26 Southeast Asian Cup as the National Cup champions. They are also the runners-up of the tournament. Meanwhile, Nam Dinh will come to the tournament for the first time after successfully defending the V.League championship in the 2024/25 season. The opponents of the two Vietnamese representatives will be determined at the draw ceremony held on the afternoon of July 4 in Thailand.
The draw of luck put CAHN in Group A with two strong representatives from Thailand, Buriram United and BG Pathum United. Buriram United is a fateful opponent of the Police team. The two teams were in the same group and met in the final match last season.
At that time, the Thai representative won against CAHN after a nerve-wracking penalty shootout in the final match to win the championship. Meanwhile, BG Pathum United was in the same group as Thanh Hoa and stopped at the semi-finals.
In addition to the two Thai teams, Group A also includes Selangor (Malaysia), Tampines Rovers (Singapore), the winner of the play-off match between Kasuka FC (Cambodia) and DH Cebu FC (Philippines). These are all experienced opponents in the regional arena.
In Group B, V.League champions Nam Dinh also face a big challenge when they are in the same group with many traditional teams. The Vietnamese representative will face Bangkok United (Thailand), Johor Darul Ta'zim (Malaysia) - the team that won the AFC Cup 2015 and participated in the AFC Champions League Elite last season, Lion City Sailors (Singapore), PKR Svay Rieng (Cambodia), the winner of the play-off match between Ezra FC (Laos) and Shan United (Myanmar).
It is worth mentioning that this year, Indonesia has no representative participating. The reason is that the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) suddenly withdrew Persib Bandung and Dewa United from the tournament due to a tight match schedule.
The two play-off matches are scheduled to take place on August 8. The group stage will be played in a round-robin format from August 2025 to February 2026, with a total of 42 matches. The top four teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
The quarter-finals will be played over two legs on 26 and 27 February 2026. The semi-finals will be played on 6 and 13 May 2026. The final is scheduled to be played on 20 and 27 May 2026 over a home-away format.
