Elanga brings money to MU

MU has reason to be excited as Newcastle are preparing to complete the deal to recruit Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest for a price reaching 55 million pounds.

Newcastle are likely to bring Elanga to St James' Park to increase their attacking depth for next season's Champions League. The Athletic claims that personal terms are not a major obstacle and the two sides are only a few steps away from finalizing a deal worth £55m.

Notably, MU benefited from a smart resale clause. When letting Elanga go to Forest, the "Red Devils" included a clause to share 15% of the profits from the next sale. If the deal reaches 55 million pounds, Forest will make a profit of about 40 million pounds, meaning MU will pocket about 6 million pounds.

This amount of money is not enough for them to recruit a quality star in this summer's transfer window, but it is a valuable source of income for MU to balance the books in the context of increasingly strict Financial Fair Play (PSR) regulations.

If everything goes according to plan, Elanga will join Newcastle in the early days of the summer training camp, ready to join the new team towards the ambitious 2025/26 season.
