The Hallyu Wave (Korean Wave) refers to the rise and global spread of Korean culture around the world. And there are films associated with this wave, leaving a strong impression.

The Hallyu Wave has transformed South Korea into a global cultural powerhouse, with both the K-pop and K-drama industries playing a major role in shaping this cultural wave. K-drama in particular is credited with playing a key role in attracting foreign audiences with its emotional stories, deep family themes, and high production values.

And here are some classic Korean dramas that created the Hallyu wave.

FIRST LOVE

First Love aired from 1996 to 1997. The drama is considered to be the start of the Hallyu wave. In South Korea, the drama became a record-breaking national phenomenon, captivating viewers with its bittersweet story of three siblings caught up in love, ambition, and sacrifice.

One of the Hallyu classics is Starry Night - a drama that combines fashion, art and romance in a way that captivated international audiences and became a mainstream hit in countries like China and Taiwan (China). A cultural phenomenon, Boys Over Flowers is undoubtedly one of the most popular dramas that introduced a new generation of viewers to Korean dramas. The story of a poor girl, Geum Jan-di, who attends a prestigious school and her relationship with the rich and arrogant Gu Jun-pyo swept Asia, catapulting its two main actors, Koo Hye Sun and Lee Min Ho, to A-list stardom.
