Galangal - a familiar plant that has been associated with many households in the northern mountainous region as a secondary livelihood, has been "awakened" in value thanks to the innovative production thinking and methodical direction of Tai Hoan Cooperative.
If in the past, people grew cassava only to make vermicelli for family needs or to sell raw, now, thanks to a closed and standardized production chain, the products of Tai Hoan Cooperative have gradually conquered domestic and foreign markets.
Recognized as a national 5-star OCOP product from 2021 and continued to be recognized in 2024, Tai Hoan Cooperative's products not only affirm their reputation but also open the door for local agricultural products to enter the international market.
This is one of the few mountainous products that meet the highest standards of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, demonstrating the successful combination of indigenous knowledge and modern standards.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan, Director of Tai Hoan Cooperative, shared: Achieving 5 stars is a source of pride, but for us it is not the destination, but the starting point of a new journey. For the product to “survive” in the large market, it is necessary to preserve tradition, at the same time master technology and the market.
Currently, the cooperative has invested in modern machinery, built standard factories, and organized technical training for workers.

From the initial processing, filtering the flour to drying the vermicelli, everything is strictly controlled, without using any chemicals or toxic additives. This not only helps protect the health of consumers but also affirms the commitment to quality and production ethics, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan added.
One of the memorable milestones of Tai Hoan Cooperative is the first shipment exported to the Czech Republic in 2022. In the context that Vietnamese agricultural products still face many barriers in terms of standards when entering the European market, this event is considered a positive signal proving that products from the highlands of Vietnam can completely compete in the international arena, if going in the right direction.
Not stopping there, Tai Hoan Cooperative's products are widely available on e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba, Sendo, BigC Online..., becoming sought-after items by discerning consumers at home and abroad.
With a raw material area of nearly 60 hectares, Tai Hoan Cooperative has created a stable production chain between cassava growers and the Cooperative. Every year, hundreds of households in Con Minh commune have a stable income, about 40-50 million VND from growing and processing cassava. More importantly, farmers no longer follow old habits but have entered a systematic production process with a guaranteed market.
Ms. Loc Thi Que, in Ban Cao village, Con Minh commune, said: Since Tai Hoan Cooperative has taken over the contract, people feel much more secure. Every cassava crop, the village is always bustling, people have jobs, and have more motivation to stick with the land.
Not only stopping at production, Tai Hoan Cooperative is also exploiting the direction of combining OCOP products with experiential tourism . Visitors to Kunming can participate in experiencing the stages of making handmade vermicelli, listening to stories about the craft village, enjoying vermicelli on the spot, creating a circle of value between tourism - production - promotion.
This is a direction in line with the development orientation of community tourism in Thai Nguyen province, where many mountainous communes are transforming themselves according to the model of ecological agricultural development associated with culture and tourism.

The success story of Tai Hoan Cooperative is a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of the OCOP Program if it is implemented methodically, linked to reality and accompanied by new rural subjects.
Product upgrading not only depends on the cooperative's internal strength but also on the support mechanism of authorities at all levels, from technical training, trade promotion to investment in craft village infrastructure.
What needs to be replicated is the way of doing it, choosing a unique product with potential, building a brand from the ground up, standardizing the production process and connecting to the market through both traditional and digital channels.
Tai Hoan vermicelli is not just a product, but a story of a land that knows how to exploit local resources, preserve traditional quintessence and adapt to the times. Each vermicelli strand is the crystallization of the passion, belief and aspiration of the people of the highlands, who persistently overcome difficulties to bring their homeland's products far and wide.
