Maintain production flow

In the context of socio-economic difficulties and challenges of an objective nature, industrial production continues to be the “locomotive” leading the growth of Thai Nguyen province. In particular, key industries have shown positive signs.

In the current economic structure of Thai Nguyen province, the industrial - construction sector currently accounts for the highest proportion, reaching 50.5%; followed by the service sector (accounting for 33.3%); agriculture, forestry and fisheries (accounting for 11.5%) and product taxes minus product subsidies (4.3%).

According to the report of the General Statistics Office, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the province in the first 6 months of the year increased by 6.47% over the same period; the industrial and construction sector alone contributed 2.71 percentage points to the overall growth.

Despite many objective difficulties from geopolitical tensions, widespread military conflicts around the world, along with unpredictable tariff policies from major economies, industrial production in Thai Nguyen province maintains a stable production rhythm.

It is worth noting that the industry's growth rate has improved month by month. specifically, the index of industrial production (IIP) in the second quarter is estimated to increase by 11.68%; in the first 6 months of 2025, IIP is estimated to increase by 8.86% over the same period last year.

Within industrial production, the “bright spots” were the mining industry (up 12.96%); processing and manufacturing (up 9.07%); water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment (up 15.49%).

Some secondary industries with high production indexes compared to the same period are: Metal ore mining increased by 19.82%; wood processing and production of products from wood, bamboo and rattan increased by 16.54%; paper and paper products production increased by 10.04%; rubber and plastic products production increased by 21.58%; metal production increased by 16.95%; production of electronic products, computers and optical equipment increased by 10.68%; motor vehicle production increased by 49.17%; water exploitation, treatment and supply increased by 17.89%...

A notable highlight is that attracting investment into the province's industrial sector continues to achieve positive results. In the first 6 months of 2025, the province granted new and adjusted capital increases for 24 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total registered capital of 256 million USD (of which, 8 FDI projects were newly granted with a total registered capital of 121.09 million USD). To date, the province has 228 valid FDI projects with a total investment of 11.19 billion USD.

Experts say that converting to a two-tier local government model, reducing intermediate levels and administrative procedures will facilitate businesses to be more proactive in developing production and business plans. The fight against counterfeit and fake goods, which has been carried out vigorously in recent times, will stimulate businesses to boost production.

Along with that, manufacturing industries serving export needs such as electronics, textiles, and mining still have a relative advantage because our country has reached a framework agreement with the US on lower export taxes than many other countries. These are the driving forces for industrial production in general, including Thai Nguyen province.

Thai Nguyen province is currently accelerating the implementation of public investment projects, especially connecting traffic routes; synchronously developing infrastructure for industrial parks and industrial clusters, along with maintaining the production flow in the first months of the year will be the premise and driving force for the industrial sector to accelerate and continue to play a leading role in the province's economic growth.
