Lam Dong continues to expand high-tech agricultural production areas

According to data collected in the first 6 months of 2025, the agricultural sector in the old Lam Dong province has achieved and exceeded the plan in the field of cultivation, including converting 996 hectares of rice land, 356.6 hectares of cashew land, and 3,850.9 hectares of other crops. Particularly, coffee trees were replanted and grafted on 3,884.4 hectares, newly planted and grafted on 782 hectares. In particular, high-tech agriculture continues to be developed on many crops with 72,861 hectares, of which 800 hectares were smart agricultural areas.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the total cultivated area in the old Lam Dong province reached 372,820.6 hectares, an increase of 1.5% over the same period. Most crops did not have major pests compared to the same period in 2024. specifically, gummosis and root rot decreased by 936 hectares (durian); mosquito bug disease decreased by 222.2 hectares (cashew); Nematode disease decreased by 170.6 hectares (mulberry). Of the total 98,518 hectares of safe crop production area, 8,810 hectares were certified by VietGAP, GlobalGAP; 1,708 hectares were organic; 88,000 hectares were certified by UTZ, 4C. In addition, the entire region was granted 116 growing area codes for 5,489 hectares of durian and 111 hectares of passion fruit; 10 durian packing facilities; 17 vegetable seed production codes with each crop yield reaching over 7,000 kg of seeds and 300,000 seedlings and shoots.

Expanding the production and consumption chain is one of the key solutions of the provincial agricultural sector to achieve and exceed the set plan targets.
Expanding the production and consumption chain is one of the key solutions of the provincial agricultural sector to achieve and exceed the set plan targets.

While the crop sector achieved and exceeded the plan, the livestock and aquaculture sectors faced many difficulties due to the low selling prices of meat and eggs, leading to a 1.4% decrease in growth compared to the same period. created, compared to the first 6 months of 2024, the proportion of livestock herds decreased, such as beef cattle (2.7%); buffalo (1.3%); pigs (0.01%). Only the poultry herd was nearly 6.2 million, reaching 90.9% of the plan and stable compared to the same period (100.8%). Notably, the mulberry and silkworm farming in the first 6 months of 2025 also faced many difficulties due to the scarcity of high-quality breeds. Meanwhile, erratic weather and climate have affected the quality of mulberry leaves, making silkworms susceptible to disease and unable to spin cocoons. In addition, due to low economic efficiency, space and land for livestock farming gradually narrowed, many households reduced their scale and did not continue to invest in increasing their herds, so the production value decreased compared to the same period. Through a review during the same period, the mulberry area and the number of silkworm egg boxes for breeding decreased by 92.5% and 24.9% respectively compared to the same period. These are the main factors that contribute to the decline in the growth rate of the agricultural sector as mentioned above.

To achieve and exceed the planned targets in the last 6 months of 2025, the provincial Department of Agriculture focuses on solutions to increase the planting coefficient, expand high-tech production areas, improve crop productivity and output; develop livestock and aquaculture towards large-scale, biosafety farms.

At the same time, continue to coordinate with central ministries and branches to remove difficulties and obstacles to support people and businesses in production and business activities; maintain the development of e-commerce combined with reducing intermediaries; implement solutions to promote domestic and export agricultural consumption markets. In particular, coordinate with relevant departments, branches, localities and units to submit to competent authorities to issue policies, programs and plans in the fields of agriculture and environment according to the 2-level local government model, ensure compliance with legal regulations and the current socio-economic development situation, contributing to the completion of the growth target of the entire provincial agricultural sector in 2025 according to the set plan.
