Messi's big decision
According to AS , the information that Messi wants to leave Inter Miami to play in another tournament 6 months before the 2026 World Cup starts is completely untrue. In fact, all signs show that this famous player has plans to stay in South Florida (USA), and stick with the team of Mr. David Beckham as president. Thereby, he has all the conditions to prepare for the last major international tournament of his illustrious career.

"Sources close to the situation have confirmed to AS that negotiations are underway to keep Messi at Inter Miami beyond 2025. At this stage, there are no serious alternatives on the table - staying in Miami is the clear priority for both parties," AS stressed in response to recent reports that Messi wants to leave Inter Miami.
Messi and Inter Miami have just ended their FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ campaign, after losing to strong opponent PSG with a score of 4-0 in the round of 16 on June 29.
"They have nothing to be disappointed about, having made history in their first participation in the tournament, reaching the knockout round, earning the largest prize money in the club's history, with a total of up to 21.05 million USD (more than 551 billion VND). This is a prize money dozens of times larger than if they had won the MLS Cup in the US (only 300,000 USD)," AS said.
After the Club World Cup, Messi and Inter Miami returned to MLS, where they are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference standings with 29 points after 16 games, having played four games fewer than the other teams, and 11 points behind the Philadelphia Union.
Messi and Inter Miami will have two consecutive matches away against CF Montreal (6:30 am July 6) and New England Revolution (6:30 am July 10). These are two matches they need to win to narrow the gap with the leading group. Next is to conquer the Leagues Cup championship (played since the end of July).
Messi will definitely attend the 2026 World Cup
"The motivation is clear: the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, is Messi's ultimate goal. He will participate in the biggest football tournament on the planet for the sixth time. A record that the Argentine player can share with Ronaldo (Portugal) and Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa," AS said.

Also according to Spain's leading sports daily: "In addition to football ambitions, Inter Miami has offered Messi exactly what he needed after leaving Europe, which is a peaceful, family-friendly environment with all the amenities of an international city - and the bonus of almost year-round sunshine here."
Messi has also helped MLS (the American professional soccer league) have a huge change in all aspects, from revenue, fan attraction, to soaring sponsorship contracts... This famous player is also the center of attention at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ still taking place in the US until the quarter-finals, although he and his teammates said goodbye in the round of 16. This once again proves that Messi's power still exists and develops strongly in the US, AS added.
"Therefore, Messi's departure would make no sense for the player himself, for Inter Miami or for the MLS ecosystem that has flourished since his arrival. That is why all parties are actively working to extend Messi's contract before the end of 2025. And even if there are any big surprises, Messi is not going anywhere," AS emphasized.
