According to L'Équipe , the French star was hospitalized due to serious intestinal problems, caused by bacterial poisoning in chicken.
The trouble began just before Mbappe boarded the plane to Miami. He was feeling unwell, but things got worse when his fever and acute gastroenteritis did not subside. On the night of June 18, Mbappe was rushed to hospital for tests because doctors feared he had appendicitis.
After a night in the hospital, tests confirmed the real cause was food poisoning from bacteria commonly found in poultry. Even more shocking was the news that Mbappe had lost 6 kg in just a few days in the hospital. Mbappe's emaciated state made many Real Madrid fans worried when he was discharged from the hospital on the evening of June 19.
Mbappe's recovery has been slower than expected, causing him to miss most of the first matches of the Club World Cup 2025™. It wasn't until July 1 that the former PSG star was able to return to the field, coming on for 20 minutes against Juventus in the round of 16. Mbappe then continued playing for another 30 minutes and scored against Dortmund, helping Real Madrid to a ticket to the semi-finals.
