In recent years, portable mini projectors have become increasingly popular, especially with young people, small families, or those witheducational needs, small businesses and even those who love to travel and picnic.

Unlike traditional projectors that are bulky and require space and a professional system, the low-cost mini projector line aims for a more convenient, personalized and flexible experience. Some of the product lines that are being chosen by many customers include: Wanbo Davinci 1 Pro, Beecube X2 Max Gen 5 Full HD, Eroc Max Full HD, Xiaomi Smart Projector L1...

Variety of choices

With only about 4 - 5 million VND, equivalent to a cheap smartphone, users can still own a projector with full features, typically: Full HD resolution, supporting maximum input resolution up to 4K; Android TV operating system, pre-installed YouTube, Netflix; dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0; built-in speakers or support for outputting sound to external speakers; projection ratio 40-100 inches, ideal for bedrooms, small living rooms or for picnic groups of 6-10 people.

Mini projectors are cheap, compact and come in a variety of models.

According to a survey from a number of large electronics retail chains and e-commerce platforms in Vietnam, sales of mini projectors under 5 million VND are growing rapidly.

Technology expert Nguyen Van Cuong (TechMag Vietnam) commented: "At a price of under 5 million, users will not expect high brightness or accurate colors like professional lines. However, they are receiving almost all modern features that just a few years ago were the privilege of lines priced at 10 million or more."

On major technology forums such as Tinh Te, Reddit Vietnam or Facebook groups, most users share their feeling of "unexpected satisfaction" when choosing to buy a mini projector in this price range.

Mr. Le Thanh Nam (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City), who is using HY300 Pro, shared: "I bought it to watch movies on weekends for the whole family. Although it is not as sharp as a theater, but turning on Netflix right from the machine, projecting it on a white wall, the whole family has a very chill evening. I don't need to upgrade because the demand is not too high."

Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha ( Hai Phong ), English teacher: "I use it to teach small classes at home. Wireless connection, easy to move. At first I thought it was just a toy, but it turned out to be surprisingly good."

However, users also expect improvements on low-cost projectors such as image clarity even with the lights on or a more powerful built-in battery for longer outdoor use.

Picnic nights are more fun with a mini projector.

According to electronics engineer Pham Trung Hieu - Multi Cast Media Center ( CMC - Da Nang), cheap projectors today use LED technology and Android operating system, providing an experience similar to a miniature smart TV. But users also need to understand the technical limitations that this type of device brings.

"The most important parameter for a projector is brightness. Usually, the low-cost line only stops at around 300-500 ANSI lumens, suitable for dark or semi-dark spaces. Color and contrast are much lower than high-end TVs, but still enough to watch movies, show slides or study online."

Engineer Pham Trung Hieu commented: "This is a line of equipment suitable for the need of 'instant projection, instant viewing'. If you know how to create a dark space with flat white walls, the efficiency is really impressive."

Is it as "delicious - nutritious - cheap" as expected?

According to engineer Tran Duc The, users should choose products based on actual usage needs.

"If used indoors or in the bedroom, image quality should be prioritized. If used outdoors, users should pay attention to models with a sturdy design and a minimum battery life of 3 hours to be able to watch at least one full movie," said engineer The.

In addition, because it is a cheap product line, users need to be alert to the advertising tricks of some floating items and unfamiliar brands. Currently, many products use LUX and Lumens parameters to indicate the brightness of the device instead of ANSI or ISO lumens, which can easily cause confusion.

"Usually many cheap projectors advertise up to thousands of lumens, but in the end, the lightsource lumens have to be multiplied by 0.0015 to get the standard ANSI lumens, or better yet, the LED Lumens divided by 2.4 to get the ANSI lumens," Mr. The explained.

For operating systems, it is important to note that Android 9 and above are required to be able to use popular online content viewing applications such as Youtube and Netflix smoothly. Low-quality brands often install pirated versions of Android TV, which are prone to errors or cannot be upgraded later.

Genuine devices usually come with a warranty of 1 year or more, along with a 1-for-1 exchange within 1 week to 30 days. Devices with low prices (under 3.5 million) but with equivalent high configurations usually only have a warranty of about 3 months.

Engineer Tran The added: "Usually for some lines, to get the best price, the manufacturer will cut some not-so-important features to focus on brightness and contrast. The cut object is usually the speaker. Integrated speaker systems under 14W almost do not guarantee power if used outdoors. In this case, users need to use Bluetooth speakers to satisfy entertainment needs."

One thing to remember is: "In any situation of use, always use a dedicated projection screen. Although normal flat surfaces such as walls and boards can be used as projection surfaces, the best display quality always requires a projection screen," Mr. The emphasized.

Despite the low price, mini projectors still possess full functions and utilities just enough to meet entertainment needs.

In addition, with limited size and capacity, long-term use will cause the device to generate heat. For low-cost models, users should only let the device rest and cool down after continuous use for about 4 hours.

Despite its popularity, according to experts, when choosing to use a cheap portable projector, users should carefully consider brightness, resolution, connectivity and battery life. Some models under 3.5 million VND are still considered "near the threshold", and there are also some products that reach Full HD resolution but cannot support 4K input.

Engineer Tran Duc The - sales consultant at CellphoneS recommends: "Shopping depends on your budget, but I sincerely advise users to prioritize products from 3.5 million VND or more to ensure performance, durability and brand quality."
