Walker returns to play in the Premier League. |
According to Sky Sports , the Premier League rookie team reached an agreement with Man City for a transfer fee of about 5 million pounds for the 34-year-old player. This is considered a strategic contract by coach Scott Parker to strengthen the defense in the return season to the top league of England.
The two parties are finalising terms on a two-year deal. Walker was also left out of City's FIFA Club World Cup squad at the end of last season, a sign that his future at the club is over.
Notably, Kyle Walker will reunite with Burnley head coach Scott Parker, who was his teammate at Tottenham Hotspur from 2011-2013. Walker is expected to quickly integrate into the tactical system at Turf Moor.
Walker will become Burnley's fifth signing of the summer transfer window, following the signings of Max Weiss, Quilindschy Hartman, Axel Tuanzebe and Loum Tchouana. Burnley have also completed the permanent signings of four loanees, Bashir Humphreys, Marcus Edwards, Zian Flemming and Jaidon Anthony.
Walker, who won trophies with Manchester City, is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad. After a season away from being first-choice under Pep Guardiola, he was loaned to AC Milan for the 2024/25 campaign, where he made 16 appearances in all competitions. However, the Italian club did not activate the buyout clause, paving the way for the England defender to find a new home.
