In late June, Da Nang city became more bustling than usual when the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival officially opened, attracting special attention from a large number of locals and tourists.
Film screenings held at many locations in the city were constantly packed with audiences, clearly reflecting the appeal of cinema in the cultural life of the community.
New destination for movie lovers
Le Do Cinema, one of the main screening venues of the Festival, was packed with people lining up to watch free films from early morning. Many viewers said they had proactively followed the showtimes, received movie tickets many days in advance and arranged their time so as not to miss the anticipated films.
Going to see a movie with a group of friends at Le Do theater, Ms. Thao Nguyen, a student at the University of Education (Da Nang), said that she really likes watching movies, especially Asian movies with artistic depth that are normally difficult to watch in theaters; especially at the screening, there are also programs for the audience to interact with the film crew, and meeting her favorite actors in real life is the best.
Not only attracting locals, the Film Festival also creates a unique cultural experience for many tourists. Ms. Minh An, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, learned about the free film screenings while traveling in Da Nang.
Ms. Minh An was very impressed with the scale and organization of the all-day movie screenings to serve tourists. The films shown were very diverse and imbued with Asian cultural identity close to life. This will be a memorable trip for the whole family in the coastal city of Da Nang.
According to the Organizing Committee, the number of domestic and foreign audiences coming to watch films has increased significantly compared to the previous two Festivals, showing the festival's increasingly widespread influence in the region.

Cultural exchange through cinema
The 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival in 2025 with the theme "DANAFF - Asian Bridge" takes place from June 29 to July 5 with the aim of selecting and honoring excellent cinematographic works, rich in humanistic values, with new discoveries, unique artistic expression; connecting and encouraging new talents of Vietnamese cinema and the Asia- Pacific region.
At the same time, widely introduce to the public new cinematic works of high content and artistic value from Asia and Vietnam.
The film screening program with 106 films and 184 screenings at cinema complexes with more than 20,000 free movie tickets distributed at Le Do, CGV, Galaxy, Lotte cinemas and outdoor film screenings at: Bach Dang Walking Street, East Sea Park, Lien Chieu District Administrative Center Square to serve residents and tourists.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, Ha Vy, said that in the first days of preparation for the Film Festival, all free tickets were distributed to people and tourists, demonstrating the attraction of the Film Festival to audiences in general and young audiences in particular.
“The film screenings have attracted a large audience, which is the clearest proof of the film festival’s widespread effectiveness. This is not only an artistic event but also a cultural bridge, enhancing understanding and cooperation between countries in the region,” said Mr. Ha Vy.

The Da Nang Asian Film Festival is an annual international event organized by the Vietnam Cinema Promotion and Development Association, the Da Nang People's Committee in coordination with relevant agencies. The event not only honors the value of Asian cinema, but is also an opportunity to promote the image of a dynamic, creative, friendly and integrated Da Nang to international friends.
At the Festival Opening Ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival is an affirmation of Da Nang's development orientation to become a new center of cultural creativity and film industry in Vietnam and the region.
“We believe that cinema is not only an art, but also a driving force for economic development, a means of promoting the city’s image, a bridge between people, a place to nurture and spread the values of truth, goodness and beauty. Da Nang City will continue to promote investment, support and create the most favorable conditions for the Da Nang Asian Film Festival to develop sustainably, professionally and with its own identity,” said Mr. Le Trung Chinh.
With the active participation of the public, the artist community and filmmakers, and the careful preparation of the Organizing Committee, the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival will continue to be a prominent cultural and artistic mark, contributing to enriching the spiritual life of the people and raising the cultural position of Da Nang city in the region./.
