Vietnam - Japan Festival 2025: Connecting culture, strengthening friendship

The 10th Vietnam - Japan Festival 2025 officially opened on the evening of July 4 at Bien Dong Park, Da Nang City. This marks a decade of this unique and symbolic cultural event in the friendly relations between Vietnam and Japan.

According to the Da Nang City Electronic Information Portal, speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that this year's festival takes place at a special time, just a few days after the new Da Nang city was officially established on the basis of merging the old Da Nang city and Quang Nam province on July 1. According to her, this is not only the beginning of a new development phase for the city, but also opens up opportunities for deeper cooperation between the new Da Nang and localities. and partners of Japan - a partner with a long-standing friendship with Vietnam.

On the basis of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, the cooperative relationship between Da Nang and Japanese localities has been increasingly consolidated and expanded in many fields: from investment, trade, tourism to cultural and educational exchanges. Strong connecting “bridges” have been built, contributing to raising the city's position on the regional and international map.

She believes that with the spirit of solidarity, understanding and mutual respect, the cooperative relationship between the new Da Nang and Japanese partners will continue to develop more strongly, effectively and sustainably in the coming time.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki expressed his delight that this was the first international exchange event held in the new city of Da Nang, and highly appreciated the coordination between the two sides. He said that this year's festival was of an outstanding scale, with many special activities such as traditional wrestling, cosplay competition, especially the play "Princess Anio" - a touching historical story about Japan - Vietnam friendship since the 16th century, performed by the Huis Ten Bosch theater troupe (Nagasaki) on the evening of July 5.

Ambassador Ito also said that Vietnam Airlines' Osaka - Da Nang route was restored on July 3, opening up opportunities to strongly promote people-to-people exchange and bilateral tourism cooperation.

He expects that with about 300 Japanese investment projects in Da Nang, total capital of more than 1.2 billion USD, along with the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, the city will continue to develop rapidly, becoming "Wonderful Da Nang" - a destination of creativity, cooperation and prosperity.

This year's festival brings together many exciting cultural exchange and economic cooperation activities, imbued with the identities of the two nations. In particular, the event was attended by a large number of delegates from Japanese localities such as Kanagawa, Nagasaki, Shiga, Tochigi, Sakai, Yokohama, Kobe, Kisarazu, Goto, Niihama and Kasuya.

In addition, more than 100 businesses from Japan and Vietnam, along with many local businesses with unique OCOP products, contribute to creating a rich, vibrant and colorful appearance for this year's festival. Art activities with the participation of famous artists from both countries also promise to bring many attractive surprises.
