High-level diplomacy

At 8:00 p.m. on July 2 (Vietnam time), General Secretary To Lam had a phone call with US President Donald Trump about Vietnam-US relations and negotiations on reciprocal taxes between the two countries. The two leaders expressed their delight at the strong and positive development of bilateral relations. General Secretary To Lam and President Donald Trump welcomed the two countries' negotiation delegations' agreement on the Vietnam-US Joint Statement on the Framework for a Reciprocal, Fair and Balanced Trade Agreement.

On the occasion of the 249th anniversary of the Independence Day of the United States of America (July 4, 1776 - July 4, 2025) and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - United States diplomatic relations (July 12, 1995 - July 12, 2025), on July 4, General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent congratulatory messages to President of the United States of America Donald Trump .

On the occasion of the 158th anniversary of Canada Day (July 1, 1867 - July 1, 2025) , on July 1, President Luong Cuong sent a congratulatory message to the Governor General of Canada, Ms. Mary May Jeannie Simon. On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory message to Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. Mark Joseph Carney; Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man sent congratulatory messages to President of the Canadian Senate, Ms. Raymonde Gagné and Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons, Mr. Francis Scarpaleggia. On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also sent a congratulatory message to Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Anita Anand.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation are on a working trip to attend the 2025 BRICS Summit and bilateral activities in Brazil from July 4-8, at the invitation of Brazilian President Lula da Silva. Regarding bilateral activities in Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and laid flowers at the Memorial Monument honoring President Ho Chi Minh in Rio de Janeiro; held talks with the President of Brazil ; attended and spoke at the Vietnam - Brazil business seminar ; received leaders of many large corporations and enterprises of Brazil ; visited and worked at a number of famous cultural and sports facilities in Brazil . Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend and speak at high-level discussions of the BRICS Summit with the theme "Strengthening Southern Cooperation to Promote More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance". On this occasion, the Prime Minister will meet with leaders of many countries attending the Summit.

On the occasion of Mr. Kim Min Seok's appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea , on July 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory message.

On the occasion of Mr. Ilie Bolojan being elected as Prime Minister of Romania , on June 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory message. On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son sent a congratulatory message to Ms. Oana Silvia Toiu on the occasion of her election as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania.

Receiving Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Gillian Bird on July 2 on the occasion of the Ambassador's new term, the Prime Minister asked the Ambassador to coordinate with ministries and sectors of both sides to effectively implement agreements between the two countries; strengthen political relations through high-level exchanges and contacts, effectively maintain bilateral cooperation mechanisms; consolidate political trust and sincere cooperation between the two countries; promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, and strive to bring two-way trade turnover to 20 billion USD.


Activities of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs

On July 5, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Head of Steering Group No. 6 of the Government Party Committee, chaired a meeting with the Party Committees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade on preparations for the Party Congress .

On the occasion of Ms. Maria Theresa Lazaro's appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines , on July 4, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son sent a congratulatory letter.

Receiving Iranian Ambassador to Vietnam Ali Akbar Nazari on the occasion of the end of his term on July 4, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that the two sides need to closely coordinate to prepare well for the meeting of the Joint Committee between the two countries, review the implementation of signed agreements, especially promote economic and trade cooperation, and soon increase the two-way trade turnover to 2 billion USD as agreed by the two countries' senior leaders. In the afternoon of the same day, receiving Egyptian Ambassador to Vietnam Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama , the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister suggested that the two sides continue to promote contacts and exchanges of high-level delegations and all levels; strengthen trade and investment cooperation, propose to promote the signing of the Vietnam - Egypt FTA, strive to increase the trade turnover to 1 billion USD in the coming time, identifying these as pillars in bilateral relations; suggest that the two countries continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.

On July 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference to review the work in the first 6 months of the year and set out the tasks for the last 6 months of 2025. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son delivered a speech directing the conference.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the movement to collect and contribute documents and artifacts to serve the construction of the Diplomatic Traditional House , towards the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Diplomatic Service on July 4, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the history of the service is not only present through documents and books, but also vividly in precious documents, images and relics, truthfully reflecting official milestones as well as behind-the-scenes stories, showing the mark of the collective and each individual throughout the 80-year journey accompanying the nation.

On July 4, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son presented the Decision appointing Mr. Vu Tien Dung , official specialist 6/8, to hold the position of Director of the Department of Cipher - Information Technology.

On June 30, Dien Bien province held a ceremony to announce the Resolutions and Decisions of the Central Government and the province for communes and wards in Dien Bien province . Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Huynh Thanh Dat, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong, and representatives of leaders of a number of central departments, ministries and branches attended the ceremony.


Bilateral diplomacy

Receiving Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi on July 2, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the position and role of Indonesia, wishes to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to become increasingly deeper and more effective, and supports Indonesia in promoting its active role, contributing to ASEAN solidarity and cooperation as well as peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Speaking at the ceremony to grant the license to establish a permanent office in Vietnam to the Financial News newspaper of South Korea on July 2, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that this is the fourth resident Korean press agency and the 30th member of the foreign press community in Vietnam, reflecting the good and comprehensive development of the Vietnam-South Korea relationship in many fields such as economics, politics, diplomacy, trade, investment and people-to-people exchange.

On June 30, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang received Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Farani. At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang highly appreciated the Brazilian Ambassador's coordination in strengthening bilateral relations, especially contributing to the results of President Lula da Silva's official visit to Vietnam in March 2025.

Towards the 60th anniversary of Singapore's National Day (August 9, 1965 - August 9, 2025), the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and to celebrate the Vietnam-Singapore relationship being upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (March 12, 2025), on July 4, the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam organized the Singapore Food and Culture Festival 2025 in Hanoi. The event was attended by Honorary President of the ASEAN Women's Group in Hanoi Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, representatives of embassies and international organizations in Vietnam, and many international friends and guests.

On the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife joining the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation to attend the 2025 BRICS Summit and conduct bilateral activities in Brazil from July 4-8, Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Farani shared with TG&VN his expectations for the visit at both bilateral and multilateral levels. According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi , the Prime Minister's visit affirms Vietnam's commitment to promoting peace and win-win cooperation in a multipolar world where developing countries have a stronger voice.


Multilateral diplomacy

Paying a courtesy call to Mr. Philemon Yang, President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the occasion of starting his term on July 3, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, expressed his wish to make substantial contributions to post-conflict reconciliation and healing efforts, and is ready to share experiences and further promote Vietnam's role in building sustainable peace.

Before the working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife to attend the 2025 BRICS Summit and conduct bilateral activities in Brazil, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang gave an interview to the press .

On June 30, at the plenary session of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the draft resolution on the budget for the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Abyei (UNISFA Mission) , negotiated and coordinated by Vietnam, was officially adopted. This is the second resolution that Vietnam has successfully negotiated at the Fifth Committee of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

On the occasion of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son's working trip to attend the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM 58), Ambassador, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to ASEAN Ton Thi Ngoc Huong shared with T G&VN about the significance and key contents of the meeting.

On July 4, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna, had a working session with Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) , to discuss ahead of the 58th Session of UNCITRAL, scheduled to take place from July 7-23 here. On July 2, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang chaired the handover ceremony of the role of Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Group (APG) in Vienna to Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran, Head of the Indian Delegation.


Spokesperson News

At the regular press conference on July 3, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated Vietnam's viewpoint and reaction to the information that Chinese ships were conducting illegal surveys in our country's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf ; responding to the request for comment on the tax rate announced by President Donald Trump , related to the trade agreement reached between Vietnam and the United States.


Other activities

Speaking at the conference to review the first 6 months of 2025 and key directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025, organized by the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 30, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang assessed that the propaganda and mass mobilization work in the first 6 months of 2025 had been comprehensively implemented, achieving many positive results, contributing to the work of advising on Party building in terms of politics, ideology, and ethics; thoroughly grasping and implementing the preliminary and final reviews of the Party's resolutions, directives, and conclusions to ensure timeliness and practicality.

On July 3, in Hanoi, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a press conference to inform about the new policies of the Party and State related to overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnam Summer Camp 2025 program. Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Nguyen Trung Kien, chaired the meeting.
