On July 4, Lao Cai provincial authorities said they had promptly evacuated all 13 households with 77 people in the area from the landslide area, ensuring safety before the disaster occurred and limiting damage.
In recent days, Lao Cai province has had heavy to very heavy rain over a wide area, causing landslides in many localities in the province, causing local traffic jams and potentially endangering people's lives.
In particular, from July 1 to July 2, 2025, landslides occurred in some villages in Sa Pa ward, Coc San commune, Lao Cai province, causing property damage and house collapse.
However, thanks to the timely intervention of the police force and local authorities, all 13 households in the dangerous area were evacuated to safety before the disaster occurred, avoiding human loss.
Specifically, on the night of July 2, through situation monitoring, the grassroots security force of Group 3, Sa Pa Ward discovered signs of landslide risk in the residential area of Mr. Hang A Seo and Hang A Giang.
Sa Pa Ward Police coordinated with the Ward People's Committee to propagate and mobilize two families and help move 9 people and all assets out of the dangerous area to a safe place.
Previously, on the night of July 1, upon receiving information that a long crack about 60cm wide was discovered on the hill behind the residential area of nearly 11 households with 68 people in Ta Ho village, Coc San commune, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, that same night, Coc San commune police mobilized maximum forces to coordinate with local authorities to urgently evacuate the above households to a safe place to prevent landslides.
By the morning of July 2, part of the area of the households had collapsed due to landslides. Fortunately, all 68 people were safe thanks to timely evacuation.
At the same time, on National Highway 279, Lao Cai province, a large landslide occurred at 2 locations: Km 156 and Km 143+200. Immediately upon receiving the information, Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 of the Provincial Traffic Police Department coordinated with Nam Xe Commune Police to guide people to move in another direction to ensure safety for people participating in traffic.
That same night, the provincial police leaders directly went to the scene to inspect and directed working groups to continue patrolling the routes. When landslides were discovered, they had to quickly stretch ropes and guide people to move to warn people and vehicles to ensure safety./.
