Digital technology industry development
Dong Nai has a strong industrial base. Of which, there are 45 industrial parks in operation, most of which are concentrated in urban areas, ready to apply technology to sustainable production and business. Abundant young labor resources are the foundation for training digital technology human resources, serving innovation in the economy . Natural resources and conditions are favorable for applying green technology to agriculture and renewable energy.
Dr. Tran Quy, Director of the Vietnam Institute for Digital Economic Development - VIDE (Vietnam Digital Communications Association), commented that Dong Nai is located in the Southern Key Economic Zone and has long been known as one of the largest industrial centers in Vietnam. In particular, with a large number of workers working in industrial parks in the province, training and improving digital skills for workers is a mandatory requirement. In addition, industrial parks in Dong Nai have many conditions to apply clean production system solutions, use renewable energy, promote innovation ecosystems, etc.
Currently, Dong Nai is researching and building a project for a free trade zone in Dong Nai province associated with Long Thanh International Airport and Phuoc An Port with a scale of about 8.2 thousand hectares. Dong Nai free trade zone is expected to be established with 4 functional zones, including: High-tech industrial production zone; Logistics zone; Financial and commercial services zone; Innovation zone. |
Dong Nai's goal is to develop a sustainable digital technology industry in the province by 2030 with the core being the Long Thanh Concentrated Information Technology Park (also known as Long Thanh Digital Technology Industrial Park); forming a digital technology industry ecosystem of the province with strategic technologies including: semiconductors, data centers, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, blockchain, etc.
According to the Department of Science and Technology, the Concentrated Information Technology Park (Digital Technology Industrial Park) project aims to create a premise for the development of the digital technology industry, create linkages in the technology chain and produce digital technology products in the province. This project is expected to cover an area of about 119 hectares located in the communes of Binh An and An Phuoc.
Head of the Data Center & Cloud Partner Development Department, Southern Digital Communications Association (SVDCA) Pham Nguyen Xuan Quynh commented that the development of the Concentrated Information Technology Park Project is necessary for Dong Nai to take advantage of the advantages and development potential of the digital technology industry in the future, especially when Long Thanh International Airport comes into operation. This will contribute to expanding the potential for attracting investment for the Concentrated Information Technology Park, attracting customers to use services and technology, as well as developing the digital technology industry in the locality.
Developing digital infrastructure and smart cities
To keep up with the trend of digital technology and modern technology development, Dong Nai province is making great efforts to build and develop digital infrastructure from the province to the grassroots level. The whole province has about 5.6 3G/4G/5G mobile information transmission and reception stations, covering 100% of residential areas, villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods of communes and wards, contributing to ensure communication for local authorities at all levels to serve socio-economic development and people's needs.
The presence of 5G network will be an important factor in the digital transformation process of businesses and localities. Industrial parks in particular and production and consumption activities in general due to the requirements for extremely large number of connections, high speed, large transmission capacity, especially for the electricity, electronics, automation, new generation industry groups...
Development of science, technology, innovation and comprehensive digital transformation have helped each industry, field, people and businesses to access information faster and faster, with digital utilities, people are better cared for, and the quality of life is increasingly improved. |
Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Vo Hoang Khai emphasized that telecommunications infrastructure is the foundation for transmitting information, data and digital services, playing a key role in the development of modern society.
Senior Director of Amata City Long Thanh Project Management Ho Dang Duy Phuc said that Long Thanh High-Tech Industrial Park is one of the first industrial parks in the Southern region to have 5G coverage. Amata is completely confident in increasing its competitive advantage, creating attraction for multinational investors to the industrial park in particular and Dong Nai province in general. Thereby, demonstrate the effort to catch up with the trends of developed countries in technology.
In the current context, strong urbanization in Dong Nai has brought many opportunities for socio-economic development, while attracting domestic and foreign investment capital. However, this process also poses many major challenges in effective urban planning and management.

Many experts believe that Dong Nai can take advantage of its existing developed infrastructure, along with its abundant workforce, to become one of the emerging localities in the digital transformation process associated with green transformation, promoting sustainable growth.
Building smart cities in the context of strong urbanization and digital transformation as today is one of the solutions to help Dong Nai soon become a modern industrial province.
